My 2019 GMC Acadia suffered a "major trans fluid leak" specifically from the transmission accumulator feed pipe. Because of this leak, the transmission lost its necessary hydraulic pressure, leading to "internal damage". This is why I experienced harsh shifts and a complete "missing 3rd gear". This exact part and failure mode are the center of NHTSA Recall 20V668. The recall warns that missing bolts on the accumulator can cause a fluid leak, progressing to a total loss of propulsion—which is exactly what has happened to my vehicle.

2109 Acadia. The gear shift would not register as being in park when it actually was in park. This created an issue of the interior lights and radio not being turned off when the driver door was opened, posing the possibility of the battery being drained and the driver stranded. Upon searching, it was learned many Acadias have had this issue, including a friends'. This was reported to GMC Executive Resolution Team and that it cost us $341.38 to get it repaired. They refused reimbursement and have not issued a recall even though many Acadias are involved in this problem.

The contact restarted the vehicle and was able to successfully park and turn off the vehicle after several attempts. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently failed to shift as intended. Additionally, the A/C system was inoperable while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the cooler and thermostat needed to be replaced. The parts were replaced; however, the vehicle was not serviced for the transmission failures. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to start, and the doors failed to close intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the battery was replaced. The contact stated that the transmission failure persisted, and there was an abnormal odor coming from underneath the hood. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Park to shift issue - the vehicle did not register that I was in park, jerked hard when trying to place in gear, did not register the PROPER gear (reverse, neutral, drive), would NOT unlock doors to let passengers out even if it were an emergency. Seems to be triggered on inclines but have also been having issues on flat ground. Other Acadia's apparently have a recall for this issue but my VIN does not register as recalled which is not acceptable. https://www.quillarrowlaw.com/blog/gmc-acadia-shift-to-park-recall-what-owners-need-to-know/ THEN trying to accelerate on road it acted as though in neutral, would only barely function in low gear. Again, gear shifting did not respond. The fab did not register to unlock the car (it has a new battery) or the trunk, or start the car just prior to the issue revealing itself.

My 2019 GMC SLT seems to be having sensor problems. I keep getting a message that my driver assist is reduced and my A/C only blows out hot air. It’s done this to me randomly id say about 4-5 times. It will go off as I’m driving and than my temp gauge goes to zero. I did research and alot of other users have the same issue and say thermostat or thermostat sensor. If I disconnect my negative on battery and wait a few minutes it will work again.

In November 2022, I started getting a dashboard "shift to park" on my 2019 Acadia after I had parked and shut the vehicle off. At the time I took it into service to have it looked at/repaired, they told me there would probably be a recall on this issue,as it seemed to be a frequent problem, and I would get a refund for the repair. That recall never happened, and now my car is once again displaying the same issue. The dealership will not cover the repair, and I will be responsible, as it is out of their 2 year warranty window. I can't just ignore this issue and keep driving, as with the "shift to park" display, there is a constant alarm that doesn't stop unless the park switch recognizes the car is in park, even when it is shut off. I feel this issue needs to be placed under a recall, and I should not have to pay AGAIN for it to be repaired.

Owner of a 2019 GMC Acadia Denali (VIN: [XXX] , current odometer ~87,164 miles), purchased new. In early February 2026, the check engine light came on. Independent diagnostic scan confirmed persistent P0420 code (“Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1”) as current, history, pending, and permanent. Inspection showed the front exhaust pipe bracket had snapped, damaging the flex pipe and causing an exhaust leak. This failure mode directly triggers the P0420 code and requires replacement of the bracket and affected flex pipe section. This is a known recurring issue on GM’s Lambda-platform vehicles (shared platform, 3.6L V6 engine, and exhaust system design). GM Special Coverage Adjustment N212356540 covers 2019 Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave models for front exhaust pipe bracket separation (resulting in pipe damage, holes, leaks, rattling, or efficiency codes), providing free repair for 15 years or 150,000 miles from in-service date, regardless of ownership. The failure on this Acadia is mechanically identical, yet the model is excluded from coverage despite matching part design and numerous similar owner complaints documented on NHTSA and BBB reports. Multiple attempts were made to resolve through the selling dealership (no response to service inquiries). Matter was escalated to GM Executive Resolution. GM required a redundant diagnostic scan at an authorized dealer (additional cost incurred), despite independent confirmation of the issue. GM ultimately denied any coverage, TSB applicability, goodwill assistance, or further support. The snapped bracket and resulting exhaust leak can produce noise, fumes in cabin, potential component damage, and emissions noncompliance via false/legitimate catalyst efficiency codes. Inconsistent application of coverage for the identical defect across equivalent Lambda-platform models raises concerns about a widespread safety/emissions issue affecting 2019 GMC Acadia. My 2019 Acadia often will not turn off because it has a Shift to Park issue. Apparently it is caused by a faulty microswitch in the shifter assembly that fails to signal the Body Control Module when in park, leading to a persistent warning message, inability to turn off the vehicle and battery drain. It has been going on for at least 4 years. It appears there is a recall for this problem but when I search my VIN number a recall does not come up. There are many posts that say "certain" models in years 2017-2019 but why not mine? It is definitely a safety issue because it does not turn off.

When I placed the vehicle in park, the dashboard alert/warning would signal "shift to park". This would continue to go off for quite some time, and it continued to get worse and take longer to shut off. Eventually the alarm would not go off I turned the car back on and off, nor if I engaged with the shifter. I could not leave my vehicle in this state, and I was unable to determine if my vehicle was truly in park, which is a huge safety concern to myself and others. This also caused the battery to drain, and could impair being able to start and run the vehicle. This problem has occured on many GMC vehicles, and there have been recalls issued for the other cars. I would like a recall issued for my VIN as well. I spent $800 fixing this issue and GMC will not cover the cost, even though this is a known problem with other Acadia's (even 2019).

Ive already paid close to 800.00 to.have this repaired because my model year is not covered in the recall. Today, it started doing it again. The safety issue is that either I, my wife, or my teenage daughter (depending on who is with the vehicle). Can be left stranded, unless we pop the hood and disconnect the battery. The second issue is that the tire pressure monitor is no longer working. It is sending warnings that our tire pressure is low. When its not. I purchased a used 2019 GMC Acadia from Grieco Honda around November 20, 2023. They showed me a CarFax report indicating the vehicle had never been in an accident. Immediately after the purchase, I reported several issues and attempted to return the car under their 30-day warranty. However, the salesperson convinced me not to return it, assuring me that they would address all of the problems. From the beginning, I complained that the car shook violently when driving between 45–60 mph, especially during acceleration. The vehicle took an unusually long time to heat up, and the brakes were loud and squeaky. A few months later, after driving over a large speed bump, the airbag warning light turned on. During my next oil change, I mentioned this issue, along with a problem with the window sensor. They dismissed my concerns and told me to take the car to GMC across the street because they lacked the tools to diagnose it. At GMC Hurd, I was told the diagnostic service would cost 160 and that I would need to leave the vehicle for the day. At the time, I couldn’t leave the car because I needed it to pick up my children. Now, in November 2025, my inspection is due. I brought the car back to GMC, and they informed me that the vehicle had been in a major accident prior to my ownership. They discovered that the airbags had previously deployed and were stuffed back into the driver’s seat and sewn shut. I have never been in an accident with this car. I reported this to Grieco since they were the ones who inspected the vehicle in November 2023 and passed it. I believe they managed to get the car through inspection without properly or thoroughly examining it before selling it to me. They have dismissed my concerns and told me there is nothing they can do. This is outrageous, as the airbags would not have deployed in an emergency, putting my safety at serious risk.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The issue was with the gear select switch and jumper harness, related to the "Shift to Park" malfunction in my 2019 GMC Acadia. Yes, the components were available at the time of the repair with the GMC dealer. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle would not recognize when it was in "Park," which prevented it from being turned off. This could lead to unexpected vehicle movement or battery drain, and creates a safety risk if the driver assumes the vehicle is secure when it is not. It also poses a hazard if the vehicle cannot be safely shut down in an emergency or in unsafe conditions. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue was reproduced and confirmed by a GMC dealer during an appointment on July 22, 2025. They diagnosed the problem and verified that the gear select switch and jumper harness needed replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected and repaired by an authorized GMC dealer. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, a "Shift to Park" warning message appeared and the vehicle would not allow me to turn it off without shifting in and out of park multiple times. This first occurred on July 18, 2025, and continued until the repair was made.

It's a well known problem and there has been cases and suits brought up and GMC will not make a recall on this even though the mechanic said I can't believe this hasn't been recalled. Last week, the coolant gauge , on our 2019 GMC Acadia, was reading below "C".... The "Steering Assist" warning was disabled on the on-screen display and the Air conditioning stopped working. Took the car to a mechanic, who read the codes.... Mechanic stated that all symptoms were based on a defective GM thermostat. The thermostat was "stuck-open" causing the "steering assist" to be disabled as well as the A/C from being disabled as well. It seems GM has updated the part since when the series of Acadia were manufactured. After getting it repaired, at of our pockets, we researched and noticed that thousands of other GM Acadia owners had the same exact 3 symptoms: (1) malfunctioning coolant reading (2) "Steering assist" disabled (3) a defective ("stuck-open") thermostat..... Symptoms were exactly the same for all parties involved. We have owned many vehicles never had a thermostat fail before 65k Miles.... It became a safety issue since the car disables the "steering assist" based on the thermostat being stuck open. Contacted GM corporate which stated unless a recall, there would be no compensation. GM needs to make it right for the thousands of GM owners whose car has the 3.6L engine In short, this is a major issue since the car's steering system is NOT working correctly We would like a recall to be initiated. Thank you.

Shift to park error message consistently displayed forcing repeated restarting of the vehicle so that it finally recognized that the vehicle was in park and would unlock the doors for safe exit from the vehicle. This was a known issue by General Motors and they have 2 class action lawsuits filed n the states of Ohio and Tennessee for this issue with well over 110,000 vehicles affected. General Motors refuses to acknowledge this defect and fails to issue a recall. Their only offer when I took this vehicle to a GM certified dealership was to offer 15% towards the replacement of the shifter assembly. The excuses made were the vehicle was out of warranty as well as over in mileage. I bought this vehicle used from an Acura dealership and accepted delivery of it on [XXX] with approximately 33,417 miles. I started to experience the shift to park error message at 36,013 miles in early May 2025. By the time I was able to receive instructions from GMC customer care and secure repair for this issue the vehicle mileage was approximately 37,000 miles. It is not a pleasant feeling to be trapped inside your vehicle until you can get it to finally recognize that the vehicle truly is in the park mode. With the hundreds of thousands of vehicles on the road with this issue I feel GM should recognize their problem and perform a vehicle recall. This flaw had been installed in numerous GM vehicles manufactured as early as 2017. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In March 2025 my 2019 Arcadia with only 44112 miles begin indicating a Shift to Park error message when I parked and shifted into park the error message showed on the instrument panel and the warning alarm sounded and would not stop showing the error message until I restarted the car and shifted from drive to park repeatedly. I couldn’t get out and close the door, and the warning stop, it would continue to sound the warning. The only way to stop the warning message and alarm was to stay in the car and repeatedly start the car shift to drive into park switch it off and if it still showed the error and warning, do it all over again. This could take up to several minutes and many tries. If I had of left the car all the warning would have been sounding indicating it wasn't in park. I didn't know if it was really in park or not and if not, the car could have potentially rolled off causing injury or damage. To try and determine what was the cause of this problem I searched the internet to find a solution, to do a reset or simple fix and discovered that GMC had known about this issue since 2016 and the only solution was an in the shop repair requiring replacement of some parts. The "Shift to Park" error in GMC vehicles is considered a safety issue by many owners and has led to class-action lawsuits. The issue, which prevents vehicles from recognizing when they are in park, can lead to the engine not shutting off, potential for vehicle roll away, and even entrapment inside the vehicle. On April 16, 2025 I had the repair done at Hayward Allen, Cadillac – GMC dealership, 2590 Atlanta Highway, Athens Georgia 30604. The total repair cost was $732.36 (invoice attached). ). I sent a copy of this invoice by email to GMC customer service. After customer service reviewed the amount they call and informed me they could only reimburse me a total of $73.24.

We receive a shift to park message when we try to turn our 2019 GMC Acadia off. The vehicle is already in park, but an alarm bell keeps going off telling us it is not. The vehicle will not allow us to shut off the vehicle properly and results in battery drain and inability to lock the vehicle. We have noticed there is a class action lawsuit and recalls from previous year's models and the 2019 model manufactured in Ohio, but ours was manufactured in Tennessee. Our year, make, and model isn't listed in the class action lawsuit and/or a recall. This is very frustrating considering the number of similar issues/complaints in regards to this shift to park problem. I feel GMC as the manufacturer should be held liable for a faulty part and they have failed to correct this issue in later models since they were aware of the issue with the 2017-2018 Acadia models built in Tennessee.

I took my 2019 GMC Acadia in for an inspection and was informed that the toe links were loose and fail inspection. Upon researching this failure, I found that there is a recall for this, but my VIN was no included. I don't understand why not given what I'm seeing from other owners. I quote from the GMC Authority site: [XXX] "GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for certain 2022 model-year Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6 and GMC Acadia crossovers over an issue related to the rear toe links. The problem: affected vehicles may have a left-rear suspension toe link with a fastener that was not properly tightened during assembly at the factory. The GMC Acadia is built at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, but will soon be moved to the GM Lansing Grand River plant to make room for the Cadillac Lyriq. The Cadillac XT5 and XT6 are also built at Spring Hill and will remain there for the foreseeable future." Based on other feedback seen, it appears this should be a recall for my vehicle as well. We see that there is a major issue with GMC vehicles and there have been recalls for this same exact issue. GMC Coleman, Lawrence NJ is refusing to fix problem under a recall. We would like this to be covered or reimbursed.

Yes, my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When I go to put my 2019 GMC Acadia in "park" the shifter states it is in park & the dashboard shows it in "P." However, when I turn the vehicle off, an error message comes up reading "shift to park" and my car wont fully shut off. You can feel the car move forward or backwards a tiny bit (depending where vehicle is parked). This makes me have to turn the vehicle back on, shift into "drive," back into "park," and then shut the engine off and pray the "shift to park" display doesn't come up. This process was repeated this morning when I arrived at Walmart 3x before it finally shut off, then when I got home it happened at least 8x before I could safely leave my car in my garage without the worry of it not truly being in park. This has gotten to the point I have bought wheel chalks to put around my car tires because I am afraid this vehicle could roll down my driveway into my neighbor's house or kill some kid playing in our culdesac. I let the last place I was at know & they told me GMC was aware of the issue, but that there was no way to fix it (Auto Revival in Justin, TX). I am unsure as to whether this issue happened for them or not, as nothing was mentioned after being told GMC is aware. That was on January 10th, 2024. No one else has looked at it besides that. It seemed to be occurring less frequently for several months, and then now it is the worst it has ever been.

Driver side blind spot not longer works. When driving the blind spot indicator just stopped working a month ago and I didn't take notice until I almost hit another car. I contacted gmc about this issue as well and was also told there isn't any recall for this and it would have to be diagnosed by there mechanics. There were no other issues prior to this. Also the "shift to park" warning has been popping up for 3 days now when my car is in park. My car won't complete shut everything off until that warning is turned off. I called GMC of puyallup and was told only certain vin qualifies for the recall for the gmc 2019 acadia. That's absolutely ridiculous! When I shifted to Park and hit the button to turn the car off, it continuously chimed and flashed the Shift to Park message on the dashboard. It would not allow me to fully turn off the car, stating I was not in Park, even though I was. I would have to turn the car back on, shift into drive or reverse, move forward or backward a little bit, hit the brake a few times, put it back to Park, hit the button, and hope it would turn off. It usually took four or five times of this routine before it would finally turn off correctly. It began happening more and more frequently over the course of a week by the time I could get it into the dealer. This is a safety issue, as the car was not fully in Park, and leaving it that way would have drained the battery as well as not allowed me to lock the doors while parked in my driveway. Thankfully, I have an extended warranty (car has 55,000 miles) and only had to pay my $200 deductible, but it was an over $500 fix. As this EXACT SAME issue is prevalent in these cars and was recalled on my same model in previous years, I feel the recall should be extended and these expenditures reimbursed.

Last week I parked in a large public parking lot and attempted to turn my car off. I received a notification in my dash to “shift to park” even though my car was already in park. I was unable to turn the car off or lock the doors. I ended up having to leave. I have now gotten this message six times in the past week. Yesterday upon returning to the car I showed an error message as soon as I started it that the parking brake needed service, stabilitrak is disabled and steering assist is disabled- drive with care. As I tried to exit the parking lot, I found it almost impossible to turn the steering week. I pulled over and restarted the car, releasing the steering wheel so I could get home. This morning, all of the service lights were on and periodic warnings flashed on my dash throughout my drive to work. I contacted the dealership and was told that there is a recall for this exact issue on the 2015-2018 models of my car. I have a 2019. This is certainly a dangerous issue that should be proactively fixed and is clearly still present in years that are not being included in the recall. I was told my car was one month past its warranty and told I could pay 250$ for the issue to be assessed and then they could quote me on a fix. The dealership acknowledged that this is an issue they regularly fix.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Infotainment system continuously changes screens without being touched. No matter what screen is displayed, it will change on it's own to various other screens. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While I was driving I was using my GPS via CarPlay and the directions were displayed on the Infotainment screen. The screen started changing to other screens and at one point changed to the back up camera. I was almost in an accident because I was unable to see the directions and frightened and confused when the back up camera appeared while I was going forward on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I took the car to the dealership while it was still under warranty and they told me it was due to me using CarPlay and that my iPhone just needed to be updated. I updated my phone and the problem never went away. So now I've stopped using CarPlay and the problem is still occurring. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Only the dealership. I have a video recording of the issue as well. Also when I Google the issue lots of other owners are complaining of the same issue.

In August 2021, I placed my vehicle in park and pressed the vehicle on/off button and received a message on the dashboard that stated "Shift to Park", even though the vehicle was in the off position. I was unable to turn my vehicle completely off (remained in auxiliary mode) and unable to lock the vehicle. I took my vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer who notated the issue was inspected and verified with a repair procedure under TSB 19-NA-206. The service record reads "This condition is caused by the park switch in the transmission control not pulling BCM signal low to electronically show part position. Removed and reinstalled transmission control, installed new shifter harness and added wire harness jumper". In February 2024, the repairs completed by the dealer failed again, and this time the entire shifter (transmission control) needed to be replaced. The TSB that GM has put forth does not "fix" the issue, just puts a temporary band-aid on the problem until the vehicle is out of warranty and the customer is forced to pay for the repairs themselves. Without the vehicle registering it is park, the vehicle stays active and the customer is unable to lock or secure the vehicle, putting the safety of the customer at risk. It is also unknown if the vehicle is actually in park, putting those around the vehicle in danger of getting run over.

The vehicle part involved is the right rear suspension adjust toe link. I did not ask the GM dealer to save the old part. The old part is not available for inspection. The replacement GM part number placed on the vehicle is 84606181. On December 4, 2023 during the annual State inspection of my vehicle the GM dealer advised me that the right rear suspension part listed above showed wear in the bushing and the vehicle fails the state inspection because this is a safety issue. In order to pass the state required safety inspection I would need to have the suspension part replaced. This part controls how the vehicle tracks down the road when driven to prevent vehicle swaying from side to side. Since the GM dealer inspected and confirmed the above I authorized the dealer to replace the worn out part and also perform a wheel alignment as recomended by the GM dealer. Prior to the info provided above their were no warnings, noises, or signs that the right rear toe link bushing was warn to the extent that it required replacement. On 9/24/23, I was driving both locally & the highway in S. I., NY. Suddenly the Adaptive Cruise Control feature shut off & on repeatedly & kept flashing (Adaptive Cruise Control unavailable) almost causing an accident, then I pulled over and shut off the system. The next day on (9/25/23) I brought the car to GMC & Buick Dealership at 1855 Hylan Blvd, S.I. N.Y. 10306. After a couple of hours, the manager Carlos Mercado tells me they need to do further testing tells me to come back on 10/04/23. I arrive at 9:00am for my appt. After three hours, I asked him what’s going on? He tells me that there are two Modular’s in the vehicle & needs to be reprogramed & updated. He says the mechanic that was working on it can’t do it & to come back. I knew at that point I was being scammed. On 10/11/23 at 10:15am he comes & tells me the vehicle is ready. I go to the register tells me at first was $671.00. I said for what? It’s outrageous! He says oh it’s electrical. I asked him did you replace any parts? He says no. replace any wires? He says no. I said if this was a recall I wouldn’t pay for it because its a safety issue. So he must have felt guilty and says I give you a discount & the price now is $555.56. So I says to him this is a lot of money for this. He tells me it was labor. I said to him I have been watching the whole time that the vehicle would sometimes be in the service area & the parking lot with the mechanic hardly working on it. I said to him do you think I’m a fool because I’m a woman unaccompanied by a man you take advantage of me. So they would not release the car unless I pay for it which I did with a credit card. On 10/12/23, I filed a complained with GM for a full refund, and explained that the program was faulty & only need an update and I was contacted by Charlie from the Executive team on 10/17/23. Thermostat gets stuck, generally in open state. AC also is disabled in this condition, soft code (no MIL) mentions "limited steering available" and temp gauge on dash goes to 0. Hard code eventually comes (solid Check Engine light on the dash). Code, MIL, and temp gauge can be cleared and fixed by disconnecting battery negative terminal and reconnecting it, and it will run consistently for a while, though it will return. Online there are no thermostat modules for this engine available (3.6L V6, also in Cadillac XT6, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse) showing that thermostat replacement is widespread. Online forum searches also describe widespread thermostat issues for this engine, at roughly $1200 per fix. A reliable thermostat is critical for long-term engine functionality, and should not need replacement at half of design life (~75-80k miles). Though this one tends to fail open instead of close, overcooling of an engine still could have its own issues, and failing closed could lead to engine overheating.

GM covered the cost of repairs. At the time I was told hopefully the repair fixes it but a chance it won't and will need to bring it back in. Two years later at 36K miles it occurred again but was out of bumper to bumper warrantee so GM would not cover and dealer would not give any discount. Both the dealer and the GM claim rep I talked to were not able to adequately explain why this is not considered in the powertrain warranty which is still valid. GM did reimburse 50% of the cost of repair but I am still out ~$380. This issue seems well documented across numerous models / years of GM products.

The electrical and gear shift failed, causing a problem that GMC calls “shift to park.” Even when the car is placed in park, the car does not recognize that it was placed in park and cannot be turned off, preventing the driver from leaving the running car. This is a known problem that multiple dealers are aware of and there even appears to be a recall and lawsuits on the 2018 Acadias. However, on my 2019 Acadia, which has the same problem as the 2018 vehicle, this is a problem that costs hundreds of dollars to fix. This should be recalled because it renders the vehicle a safety hazard because it cannot be turned off and it is a known GMC problem that they refuse to fix.

This is a known issue and GMC has not issued a recall for it, nor are they covering any cost of repair. When the car is put into Park, the screen displays a message that says "Shift to Park". This results in being unable to turn the car off. The vehicle will not lock either when the message is displayed. On several occasions, the car would not start because of this issue. We took it to the dealer and they are fixing the issue for just over $500 USD.

Vehicle has been bucking and jerking when trying to accelerate. Going up a hill is scary (especially with my kids in the car) because it slows the car down trying to find a gear. Dealership says it's a torque converter but since so many Acadia's are being recalled for transmission issues, we feel ours should be included as well. Dealership is making us pay for a transmission flush which doesn't make sense because if it weren't for these issues, we wouldn't need to have a flush.

Additionally, the temperature gauge remained on cold. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving the temperature gauge shuts down completely to C - the check engine light comes on and a message appears on the dash saying "Steering Assist Reduce Drive With Care". Any air conditioning goes from cold to hot and the fan under the hood goes to high automatically and wont shut off. We have been informed that this is a known error that has existed for a long time now, with no recalls to date. I cannot schedule my vehicle for repairs yet because I do not have the money to pay for the repairs. They are saying that the placement of the thermostat and sensor, which need to be replaced in order to fix this problem, are located in a very difficult spot to get to. Saying that it will take upwards of 4-5 hours to get everything fixed, which increases the amount of money to fix this issue. My 2019 GMC Acadia just started doing this about 2 months ago and I have 54000 miles.

After exiting the highway onto a side road, the vehicle began to shake violently (like we were on a very bumpy road). I pulled into a parking lot thinking we had a flat tire. Then the vehicle suddenly came to a stop and would not move forward and would not move backwards. There was no flat tire, but I noticed that the front left tire was turned inward in the direction that the steering wheel was turned, but the front right tire was also turned inward at a much greater angle. At first glance, I could see behind the tire that the tie rod had detached from the front right tire resulting in no steering capabilities for the vehicle. The tie rod has a large bolt that attaches it to the tire, and the bolt was missing. Had this happened on the highway just a few minutes earlier, the resulting accident could have been catastrophic. I paid to have the car towed to the dealership and when the tow truck driver arrived he took one look at the vehicle and said "this should have never happened". The dealership could not explain how the tie rod lost the bolt and there was no visible damage to the tie rod. My concern is that had this happened at 60mph, the car could have flipped or the car would have been abruptly turned into the median wall at 60mph. Tried to upload images, but could not upload.

2019 GMC Acadia started producing error code of “shift to park” around 32,000 miles. This malfunction is directly connected to a know a non manufacturer flaw in the shifting mechanism shifter switch an faulty grounding. The error code “shift to park” will not allow you to properly shut off or start the car causing potential safety threats to individuals involved. This error code is a know issue with the shifting mechanism GMC has been putting in Acadia models for the last 5 plus years with no proper resolution to correct potential hazard for consumers. Recall Bulletins are in place for some 2009-2017 models currently, but only a temporary fix. Consumers are expected to pay for repairs for a manufacturer defective part that doesn’t meet nhtsa requirements. I would like to add the 2019 models to this list. A week ago my car started having an alert on the dash saying “shift to park” when I was already presumed to be in parked. I was worried because the car wouldn’t turn off and stayed on dinging. I couldn’t leave my car because it was on (possibly having battery die or doors won’t lock, etc.) I researched it and it showed many GMC Acadias have done this and previous models has recalls. As a result, the vehicle could roll away once you get out of it, putting you and the people around in great danger. Also, you may not be able to restart the vehicle once the 'Shift to Park' message is displayed, making it a terrible inconvenience especially when you're in a hurry. I took my car in to be serviced and they said it was that I needed a “new shifter assembly” so $670 later and after reading that this is what mechanics first step is, but essentially may not even fix the problem kind of terrifies me. A recent recall report says that GM does not currently have a fix for the Shift to Park issue just yet, however, it does have fixes for "Shift to Park" messages that can appear in affected Acadia vehicles that are already in PARK On October 3, 2018, GM released a TSB entitled "Message Displaying Shift to Park When in Park" which instructed technicians to correct the defect by replacing the transmission control shift assembly. While there are some fixes for "Shift to Park" messages, GM still has no fix for the actual Shift to Park issue. What do we do? Pay a large fee for a possible half fixed issue?

I was told that the vehicle's rear toe links were loose and that I would not pass the state inspection unless they were replaced. Upon some research, I found out that it is unlikely that toe links would be loose on a 4 year old car with 45k miles on it. Furthermore, to my knowledge, what causes threads within the toe link to loosen is improper adjustment. The first and last toe link adjustment was made as it was manufactured by General Motors. Looking into the issue, I noticed there was a number of other people online complaining about the same issue. Having no choice but to repair the vehicle in order to have a legal vehicle to drive, I was charged over $800 which included a wheel alignment which I was told was necessary after replacing the rear toe links. In addition, I noted that there was a recall for GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured from December 2021 to March 2022 regarding the same exact issue, and as you know, loose toe links can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of crashing and thus putting my daughter's safety and other people's safety at risk. There were no warnings or signs of the toe link ever being loose prior to this inspection.

I was going to live with this aggravation due to costly repair ($656.67), but I went online and found that the car may roll forward if it is not fixed in a timely manner and you don't know if it is in park causing danger if it rolls. Others say put the emergency brake on always. This is a safety issue. Jim Ellis said to bring it to your attention and also write a letter to GMC Corp. I also noted that there is a lawsuit against GMC as they have profited selling the Acadia with this defective gear assembly since 2012. I had to push the hood up manually, and tried to close with remote or with button on the hood but the Rear hood would not close. I then had to manually close the hood. On August 11, 2021 I took the car to the dealer and they replaced both Rear Hood Struts that wear leaking fluid. This SUV is only 2 years old with 16000 miles and should not be having these type of safety issues that can potentially be life threatening.

When I put Shifter in PARK, the dash indicator states the car is in PARK. I then push the Start/Stop button to turn the car off, but the dash displays car is not in PARK. Sometimes the car will not shutoff or the car just beeps until I push the Stop/Start button. I cannot lock doors to leave the car. When this occurs or when left in this state the battery runs down, which leaves me stranded. This is certainly a safety issue on various levels. It the car really in Park! What if it on a hill and starts to roll into me or someone else.. Scary!!

Occasionally my vehicle will say "Shift to Park" when I turn off the vehicle, but the vehicle is clearly in Park. It has been happening more frequently lately. I have researched this problem and it appears it has been a problem with several other GMC Acadia's as well.

We are experiencing the "SHIFT TO PARK" issue on our 2019 GMC Acadia at 44,000 miles. We have been told we need to pay $200 for the fix PLUS more than $200 for the battery which has undoubtedly been impacted by the first issue. Needless to say, we are not happy that we'll be charged for a known GMC issue and we are aware there are class action suits around this issue in various states. We have been loyal GMC owners, but we are now concerned about the safety issues this presents our family. Ironically, we are searching for a new truck at this time and this recent hardship will impact our brand choice now as well as in the future. Please let us know how this issue might be rectified.

WE HAVE HAD OUR 2019 GMC ACADIA AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIIPS, RECENTLY WE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2019. THE DOOR LOCKS KEEP MALFUNCTIONING WHERE THEY EITHER WORK OR DON;T WORK AT TIMES. MY WIFE AND CHILD GET LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE WOIRKED ON THE VEHICLE A HALD DOZEN TIMES BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL OCCURRING. THE ORGINAL DELAER NAME IS COCHRAN GM OF ROBINSON IN PITTSBURGH PA. THE DEALER HAS BEEN GREAT WITH US BUT THEY STILL CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE.

AFTER PLACING MY CAR IN PARK, AND TRYING TO CUT OFF THE ENGINE, IT ALERTS ME TO "SHIFT TO PARK" ... I WILL HAVE TO RESTART MY ENGINE, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK TO PARK, AND TRY AGAIN TO SHUT OFF THE CAR. SOMETIMES IT WORKS ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, BUT USUALLY TAKES 3-4 TIMES OF CUTTING ENGINE OFF AND ON, SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE TO PARK AGAIN. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE HORN WILL START TO HONK, AND ALARM GOES OFF. THE CAR IS CLEARLY IN PARK, THE SHIFTER CAN NOT MOVE FORWARD ANY FURTHER, AND THE INDICATOR SAYS ITS IN "PARK" IT IS ONLY AFTER YOU PRESS THE START/STOP BUTTON THAT THE ALARM INDICATES IT NEEDS TO BE "SHIFTED INTO PARK"

FIRST TIME BACK IN JUNE 10TH, 2020, I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE OF "REMOTE NOT DETECTED" THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, FEW HOURS LATER, SAME DAY AFTER I PICKED THE CAR UP IT WENT HAYWIRE WHILE PARKED. IT THREW ITSELF INTO THEFT MODE, WOULD NOT LET US MANUALLY LOCK THE CAR, ELECTRICAL WAS STILL ON BUT ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF, ALARM, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND LIGHTS WAS GOING OFF WHILE I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY'VE TOLD ME, THE A/C CONDENSATION FRIED THE CPU MODULE BECAUSE THE ONLY THING KEEPING WATER OUT OF THE CPU WAS A TRAY. SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2020 I TAKE IT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AGAIN THE CAR KEPT READING "NO REMOTE DETECTED". THEY CLAIMED IT WAS MY "DASH CAM" THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. OCTOBER 14TH, 2020 THE CAR AGAIN WENT HAYWIRE WHILE IN MOTION. THIS TIME IT THREW ITSELF INTO THEFT MODE, ALARM WENT OFF, WIPERS, WAS READING LOW FUEL (FULL TANK) STEERING ASSIST TURNED ON AND OFF, BRAKES STARTED LOCKING MID BUSY STREET, STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED ALSO. I BARELY COULD TURN IT INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THROUGH MY TRIPLE A PLAN FOR THE SECOND TIME BECAUSE I WAS "OUT OF THE AREA" THAT THEY COULD SEND A TOW TRUCK TO. THEY TELL ME AGAIN CONDENSATION GOT INTO THE CPU AND WASN'T EVEN SURE IF IT'LL HAPPEN AGAIN IF I CONTINUE TO RUN THE A/C. 9 DAYS AFTER TAKING POSSESSION OF MY 2019 ACADIA, WITH LESS THAN 900 MILES ON IT, IT STOPPED WORKING. THE FIRST TIME I HAD A PROBLEM I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE TRUCK TO RUN INTO A STORE. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT I WAS GETTING A MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE ELECTRIC WAS ON, BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW DRIVER GOT THE TRUCK STARTED AND ADVISED ME TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER LESS THAN 1 MILE AWAY. WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROAD I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND STABILTRAK, MAKING IT FEEL LIKE I LOST MY BRAKES. MY EXPERIENCE AT THE DEALER WAS HORRIBLE. THEY CHANGED MY BATTERY AND SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. I DID NOT EVEN MAKE IT 24 HOURS BEFORE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ELECTRIC WAS ON BUT THE TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING. I WAS GETTING A MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE TRUCK WAS OFF AND PARKED BUT THE DASHBOARD WAS SHOWING D THEN P AGAIN. I CALLED FOR ANOTHER TOW, AND THIS TIME IT WAS ACTUALLY TOWED. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD IT HAD TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER. SERVICE FIXED IT AND HELD ONTO THE TRUCK FOR A FEW DAYS TO MAKE SURE IT CONTINUED WORKING WITHOUT PROBLEMS. 6 DAYS LATER THEY CALLED ME TO PICK IT UP AND IT DIDN'T EVEN MAKE 5 HOURS THIS TIME. THE TRUCK WAS STILL RUNNING THIS TIME, BUT THE ELECTRIC WAS GOING CRAZY. EVERY LIGHT WAS LIT ON THE DASHBOARD. AS I WAS DRIVING IT TO THE DEALER, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GOING CRAZY. I WAS DRIVING STEADY AT AROUND 35 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS SHOWING 1, 0, 5, 0, 30, 31, 6, 0, 5, 31, 32, 1, 0, 5, 0. THE MANUAL GEAR SHIFTER CONTROLS IN LOW GEAR ON THE CENTER CONSOLE DO NOT SHIFT. THE MANUAL CONTROL WORKED DURING THE TEST DRIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE CAR HAD 17 MILES ON IT, MARCH 10, 2019. THE SHIFTER FAILURE WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE CAR HAD ABOUT 500 MILES ON IT, COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN ON A HIGHWAY WHEN WE TRIED TO USE THE ENGINE TO BRAKE INSTEAD OF USING THE FOOT BRAKE ON MARCH 30, 2019. IN BETWEEN THOSE TWO DATES ON MARCH 21, 2019, THE CAR HAD A WATER LEAK AFTER IT RAINED THAT DRIPPED INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR AND DIRECTLY ONTO THE SHIFTER AND OTHER ELECTRONIC CONTROLS. I BELIEVE THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILURE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF WATER DRIPPING ONTO THE SHIFTER AND OTHER ELECTRONICS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE. I HAVE 3 DOCUMENTED SERVICE RECORDS ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR THE WATER LEAK AFTER 3 SEPARATE RAINSTORMS THAT WAS ULTIMATELY DETERMINED BY GM ENGINEERING TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. WHEN THE GLASS IS POSITIONED FOR THE REAR MOONROOF, THE POSITIONER IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE GLASS IN PLACE FOR A MOMENT TO SEAL. INSTEAD THE POSITIONER MOVES CREATING AN AIR POCKET. THIS RESULTS IN WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CEILING OF THE VEHICLE AFTER RAIN, WHICH THEN SEEPS INTO THE FABRIC LINER AND DRIPS DIRECTLY ONTO THE CONTROLS. I AM WORRIED ABOUT WHERE ELSE WATER HAS TRAVELLED WITHIN THE CAR, KNOWING IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY 2018 AND STORED OUTSIDE MOST OF ITS LIFE. THE SHIFTER IS THE FIRST OF WHAT I FORESEE AS MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT CAN ENSUE WITH WATER INTRUSION, AS IT HAS OCCURRED IN A CAR HAVING UNDER 900 MILES ON IT. WITH ALL ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROLS, I AM WORRIED THAT IF WATER DAMAGED THE LOW GEAR SHIFTING, THERE COULD BE FUTURE AND MORE DETRIMENTAL TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS (POSSIBLY CATASTROPHIC). BEYOND ELECTRICAL FAILURES, MOLD IS A WORRY IN THE HEADLINER AND CARPETS CREATING A HEALTH HAZARD IN MY VEHICLE WHERE I TRANSPORT MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN.
