THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECALL FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT. AFTER CALLING TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THIS ISSUE THE VEHICLE SHOWS UP AS ALREADY SERVICED, WHICH MAY HAVE ONLY BEEN AS LITTLE AS AN INSPECTION THAT WAS DONE. THE BALL JOINT IN THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY FAILING AND IS EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING. I AM IN SEARCH OF A RECORD FOR WHO FILED THE SERVICE FOR THIS RECALL OR A CONFIRMATION THAT THIS ISSUE CAN BE "FIXED" ONCE AGAIN UNDER THE SAME RECALL.

THE THRUST WASHER IS WELDED TO THE CRANKSHAFT IN MY CAR. FOR WHATEVER REASON, THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE THRUST WASHERS THAT CAUSE THERE TO BE AN INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF PLAY IN THE CRANKSHAFT. THIS CAUSES WHAT HAD BEEN TERMED THE "CRANKSHAFT WALK". AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO FIX MY CAR IN A PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS THE DEALER I HAVE BEEN HAVING MY CAR SERVICED AT (TODEY MITSUBIHI IN VENTURA, CA) HAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY ENGINE, APPARENTLY THE ENGINE IS ACTUALLY SHIFTING AND THIS WAS CAUSING MY CLUTCH PROBLEMS. I AM AWARE THAT TODEY MITSUBISHI HAS SEEN AT LEAST ONE OTHER VEHICLE WITH THIS SAME ENGINE FLAW (SHIFTING) MANIFESTING ITSELF IN A FLUID LEAK.

1 AND 1/2 YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT MY "BRAND NEW" CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WATER PUMP AND GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
