I almost got into a accident because it's late sobits really hard to see because the headlights u cnt see any at all at night I can use a flash light out the window and see better like that but on top of that my car just decides to up and stall on me and not wanna start back and it had melted my crankshaft sensor wires and I guess it just decided to also mess up the wiring on my camshaft sensor I literally had to wire up the wires straight around the plug on both just to make it home it was cold out and all I really love my car but I'm spending more money than I've got just tryna keep it running and between that and the lights that's gonna get sum1 hurt or killed if not fixed I was on a backroad had no service to call anybody for help and I was right between 2 blind turns

WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND CAME TO A STOP. TRIED TO SHIFT INTO 1ST AND COULD NOT DO SO. HAD TO TURN OFF MY CAR TO SHIFT INTO GEAR TO AVOID GRINDING. HAD A HARD TIME GOING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AS WELL. ONCE ARRIVING HOME COULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. SEEMS LIKE THE GEARS WERE TRYING TO STRIP AND A HORRIBLE GRINDING WAS OCCURRING. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A STICK SHIFT FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. HAD TO TURN OFF MY CAR TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE TO GET INTO MY DRIVEWAY TO PARK. TRIED THE NEXT DAY TO DRIVE MY CAR...DID THE WARM UP DUE TO COLD WEATHER, AND AGAIN COULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS WHILE MY CAR WAS RUNNING. AS SOON AS I TURN THE IGNITION OFF I COULD SHIFT JUST FINE. I'VE RESEARCHED TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND EACH SOLUTION EQUATES TO PAYING A LOT FOR REPAIRS. I'M UPSET BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR AT THIS TIME AND I NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE FOR MY JOB. PROLONGED WIRING HARNESS CONTACT WITH THE HEAT SHIELD CAUSES THE WIRING INSULATION TO WEAR & GROUND OUT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO DIE-OUT. HAD AN ICCIDENT FEW DAYS AGO WHERE THE ENGINE DIED OUT AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC . THIS IS SERIOUSLY NOT OKAY AND A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE HIGHWAY ON AN OFF RAMP AT 50 MPH, ENGINE (RPM) STARTED BOGGING DOWN, THEN BOTH FRONT TIRES LOCKED UP TO A SCREECHING HALT. I ALMOST SLIDE OFF THE RAMP AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME. FRONT TIRES WERE LOCKED UP, WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT COME OUT OF GEAR. HAD IT TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS QUOTED $3,000 JUST TO PULL THE TRANSMISSION FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE FUEL FILLER NECK RUSTS SEVERELY AROUND THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE CAUSING LARGE AMOUNTS OF FUEL TO LEAK ON THE GROUND AND GASOLINE VAPORS TO ESCAPE. THE FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY IS CONSTRUCTED OUT OF METAL AND INCLUDES A LARGE TUBE/PIPE FOR THE FUEL TO ENTER THE GAS TANK, AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER SMALLER METAL PIPES. THE FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY EXTENDS FROM THE FILLER DOOR, WHICH IS SITUATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER QUARTER PANEL, DOWN AND ACROSS TO THE FUEL TANK WHICH IS SITUATED IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THERE IS A PARTICULAR POINT WHERE THE PIPES IN THE ASSEMBLY MAKE AN APPROXIMATELY 45 DEGREE BEND, MOVING FROM A DOWNWARD ANGLE TO AN ANGLE THAT IS MORE PARALLEL WITH THE GROUND. AT THIS BEND OR ELBOW, THE MANUFACTURER PLACED A THICK METAL SHIELD, PRESUMABLY TO PROTECT A WEAK POINT. THE SHIELD BOLTS TO THE BODY OF THE CAR IN FOUR PLACES AND CUPS THE FUEL PIPES IN A SEMI-CIRCLE AROUND THE BEND LEAVING AN APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF INCH GAP BETWEEN THE PIPES AND THE SHIELD. THIS SHIELD AND PIPE ASSEMBLY IS SITUATED DIRECTLY BEHIND AND SLIGHTLY INBOARD OF THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE, HOWEVER, IT REMAINS EXPOSED. BECAUSE OF THE GAP BETWEEN THE PIPES AND THE SHIELD, AND BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE SHIELD IS ANGLED UPWARDS, AND BECAUSE THERE IS NO COVER OR OTHER PROTECTIVE DEVICE TO SEAL THIS GAP, THE SHIELD COLLECTS DIRT, DEBRIS, GREASE, AND MOISTURE. PRESUMABLY, THE REAR TIRE THROWS THIS FOREIGN MATERIAL AROUND WHICH THEN COLLECTS IN THE SHIELD, BUILDS UP, AND CONTACTS THE PIPES, CAUSING THEM TO RUST. EVENTUALLY THE PIPES RUST COMPLETELY THROUGH CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK ON THE GROUND WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS REFUELED. THE HOLES IN THE PIPES ALSO ALLOW GASOLINE VAPORS TO ESCAPE AND IMPAIRS THE EVAP SYSTEM. DESPITE THE BUILDUP AND CONTINUAL CONTACT OF FOREIGN MATERIAL IN THE SHIELD, THE SHIELD ITSELF DID NOT RUST AT ALL CREATING A PERFECT COLLECTOR TO GATHER FOREIGN MATERIAL AND CAUSE THE RUST TO FORM. *TR

ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 3, 2011 I WAS INVOLVED IN A WRECK, SLAMMING INTO A CHEVROLET COBALT WHICH WAS LATER CITED FOR FAILURE TO YIELD. I WAS DRIVING A 2001 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT CONVERTIBLE AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 45 MPH. I SLID APPROXIMATELY 8 FEET BEFORE HITTING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OF THE COBALT. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH, OR EVEN AFTERWARD FOR THAT MATTER. THE FRAME IN THE FRONT IS BENT SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN ITS PREVIOUS ARRANGEMENT, AND IS BEING FOUND AS A TOTAL LOSS. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CODES SHOW AN EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS LEAK. SEVERAL SERVICE VISITS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. FINALLY IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUEL FILLER TUBE WAS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT AND CLOSE TO FALLING OFF. APPARENTLY THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2001 ECLIPSE AND WAS CAUSING FULE LEAKAGE AS WELL AS VAPOR LEAKAGE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE OR RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE BEING DISABLED. THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN A FUEL FILLER TUBE IN SUCH BAD SHAPE. MITSUBISHI DEALER STATED THEY DIDNT WANT TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE DUE TO THE HIGH REPAIR COST. *TR

ON 2/21/10 EARLY SUNDAY MORNING I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 55MI/HR WHEN MY MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE JUST STOPPED. IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. THERE WAS NO NOISE OR SOUND OF ANY KIND TO INDICATE SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND SAT THERE FOR 3 1/2 HRS FOR A TOW TRUCK. CAR WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH PARK MITSUBISHI IN BETHEL PARK. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR HAD ONLY 57183 MILES AND I WANTED THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THEY WOULD NOT DO THAT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO AAMCO. I READ ON LINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION USED IN MY CAR AND ALSO CERTAIN CHRYSLER MODELS WITH A DEFECTIVE "WAVE SPRING" THAT BREAKS SUDDENLY AND CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. I ASKED AAMCO TO SAVE ALL BROKEN PARTS. THE WAVE SPRING BROKE, WENT THROUGH THE PUMP, AND BROKE THE GEARS JUST AS DESCRIBED IN THE ARTICLE "MITSUBISHI F4A51 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAZARD PROBLEM". THIS PROBLEM WAS WELL KNOWN BY MITSUBISHI BECAUSE THE WAVE SPRING WAS REDESIGNED BUT TOOK NO ACTION TO NOTIFY OWNERS OF THE HAZARD THAT EXISTED. BY SWAPPING OUT A REBUILT TRANSMISSION, THE MITSUBISHI DEALER DOES NOT MAKE THE CUSTOMER AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND JUST ASSUMES THE TRANSMISSION WENT BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED THEREFORE NOT MAKING THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WELL KNOWN. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD THE PART REPLACED WITH THE NEW DESIGNED WAVE SPRING. THIS ACTION WOULD HAVE SAVED ME A LOT OF MONEY AND NOT PUT MYSELF AND OTHERS IN DANGER OF HARM OR DEATH. MITSUBISHI KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND DID NOTHING, THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ERROR AND MAKE OTHER OWNERS AWARE SO THAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. THEY CAN NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CLAIM THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A JUST WEAR AND TEAR CASE. WIRING HARNESS FEMALE SOCKET FOR THE HEADLAMPS OVER HEATED AND MELTED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FEMALE SOCKET MELTED ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO TO A POINT WHERE IT WOULD NOT PROVIDE HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION. BEFORE THE COMPLETE FAILURE, THE HEADLIGHT WOULD EITHER BE FULLY BRIGHT, OR VERY DIM. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME WAS AROUND 60K. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE FEMALE SOCKET ALSO HAD MELTED SOME DURING THIS TIME. IN JAN. OF THIS YEAR, WITH APPROX. 70K MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED COMPLETELY WITH THE FULL MELTING OF THE FEMALE SOCKET. A WEEK LATER I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER MICHAEL SEE AT COCONUT CREEK MITSUBISHI AND FIND OUT WHAT THE FACTORY REP TOLD HIM. MICHAEL TOLD ME THAT JOHN HACKWORTH THE FACTORY REP SAID I'M NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING. THE FACTORY REP NEVER LOOKED AT THE CAR OR INSPECTED THE BOLTS TO SEE WHY THE MOLDING FLEW OFF. HE HEARD THE AGE OF THE CAR AND THE MILEAGE AND THAT WAS THE BASIS FOR HIS FINAL DECISION. THE STORY THAT MICHAEL SEE AND THE ASSISTANT MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP STANLY ANDERS KEEP TELLING ME IS THAT THE CAR IS SIX YEARS OLD AND HAS 95,000 MILES ON IT AND THINGS BREAK. FIRST MR. ANDERS SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE FACT THAT THE FACTORY REP NEVER CALLED TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND INSPECT THE BOLTS TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, IN MY OPINION IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE FACT THAT MITSUBISHI MOTORS OF NORTH AMERICA HAS NO INFLUENCE OVER THE DECISIONS OF A FACTORY REP IS ABSURD. IN ADDITION, THE DASHBOARD IS SLOWLY FALLING APART. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I REALIZED THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ON. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THEM. UPON OPENING MY HOOD, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM MY HEADLIGHTS AND AFTER THEY COOLED, I SAW THAT THE CONNECTOR AND WIRES WERE MELTED. I WENT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HE ADVISED ME THAT THE WERE OUT OF CONNECTORS BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL CONNECTORS WERE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE THE CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BULB AND MANY PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE CONNECTORS JUST MELTING OFF. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH IS GOSSETT MITSUBISHI HERE IN MEMPHIS, TN AT LEAST FOUR TIMES SINCE LAST NOVEMBER REGARDING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. WE HAD THE CAR SERVICED BY CARMAX 4 DIFFERNT TIMES, THEY REPLACED 2 O2 SENSORS. AFTER THE 4TH SERVICE THEY REFERRED US TO A MITSUBISHI DEALER. THAT DEALER ALSO REPLACED AT LEAST TWO O2 SENSORS. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON ABOUT EVERY 50 -60 MILES. WE TRIED TWO OTHER MITSUBISHI DEALERS FOR A TOTAL OF 11 SERVICE VISITS OVER A 12 MONTH PERIOD. ONE DEALER CHANGE THE ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER AND AN O2 SENSOR. THE PROBLE REAPPEARED AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES. DURING THIS TIME I REPEATEDLY CALLED THE MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER WITHOUT GETTING ANY ASSISATANCE. I ALSO CONTACTED THE SOUTHEASTERN SALES MANAGER DAVID SULLIVAN WHO WAS A TOTAL WASTE. I COULD NOT HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR MORE CAREFULLY TO AVOID THE BENT RIMS. WHEN I NO LONGER HAD CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE, I TRADED IT AT A LOSS. THERE IS NO REASON A $28000 VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE WHEEL ISSUES WITHOUT MITSUBISHI TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. I DID NOT CHOOSE THE WHEEL SUPPLIER, THEY DID. AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS, I HAD TO REPLACE THE RIMS AS THEY WERE A HAZARD AND CREATING DRIVING PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT OFF THE SHELF RIMS FOR HALF THE COST OF THE MITSUBISHI RIMS AND HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM SINCE (2 YEARS LATER). THREE OF MY FOUR RIMS WERE IN REALLY BAD SHAPE FROM HITTING THE SMALLEST OF POT HOLES. WHILE ACCELERATING ON AN ON RAMP TO GET ONTO INTERSTATE 84 IN CONNECTICUT, I HIT A SMALL POTHOLE IN THE ROAD AND IT MAJORLY BENT THE WHEEL AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO COME OFF OF THE WHEEL. THIS HAPPENED IN THE NIGHT AND ON A STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY THAT HAD NO SHOULDER. I HAD TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY A MILE ON THIS BLOWN OUT TIRE AND WHEEL TO THE NEXT EXIT. THE FAILURE OF THIS WHEEL COST ME $350 (FOR THE WHEEL) AND ANOTHER $150 (FOR THE TIRE) PLUS LABOR CHARGES. NO MENTION OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THESE WHEELS WAS MENTIONED WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER.

THEY ALL BLOW ME OFF TELLING ME THAT NOTHING COULD BE WRONG THIS EARLY ON, WITH SO FEW MILES ON THE CAR. WELL THE CAR IS STILL STUTTERING, EVEN HAS STALLED OUT, EVEN WHEN GIVING PLENTY OF GAS. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN OVER TRAIN TRACKS, IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, ETC. I WOULD BE INVOLVED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT THREATENING MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER(S). BECAUSE I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE ATTENTION OF MY DEALER BEFORE I EVEN HIT 10K, AND HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP AT EACH SUBSEQUENT MAJOR VEHICLE SERVICE TIME, AND I NOW HAVE 38K ON MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED WITH NO HELP. THE SHIFTING KNOB ON THE MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE SPYDER LOOSENS OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME CAUSING THE SHIFTING KNOB TO COME FREE OF THE SHIFTER. LEAVING THE DRIVER WITHOUT THE CAPABILITY OR SHIFTING CONTROL OF THE METAL SHAFT. THE DRIVER MUST THEN TRY AND SLOW TO A STOP AND RE-INSTALL THE SHIFTING KNOB. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN RT. 135, COINCIDENTALLY PASSING A MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP, AROUND 7:15 IN THE EVENING. THERE WAS PRETTY HEAVY RAINFALL, SO I MADE SURE TO STAY AROUND 25 MILES/HR. AS I PASSED THE DEALERSHIP I HEARD A THUNDEROUS BOOM FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR. I MADE IT BACK TO MY HOUSE (WHICH IS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY). WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR, I FOUND THE FRONT OF MY FRONT RIGHT RIM BENT, AND THE INSIDE OF THE RIM WAS MISSING AN 8 INCH CHUNK OF METAL NEAR THE SEAL. I TOOK IT DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY ONLY TO HEAR THEM TELL ME THAT DAMAGE WAS NORMAL IN REGULAR ROAD CONDITIONS. THE ONLY OPTION I WAS GIVEN WAS TO BUY A NEW RIM (AT ABOUT $350). THIS WAS EVEN WITH THE EXTENDED 100,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE EQUIPPED WITH 17 INCH ALLOY WHEELS, GOING ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE RIGHT FRONT AREA. I PULLED OVER AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL RIM WAS GREATLY DEFORMED AND THE TIRE KNOCKED OFF THE BEAD. I CHANGED THE TIRE AND PROCEEDED HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I INSPECTED THE ROAD THE FOLLOWING DAY IN ANOTHER VEHICLE AND DROVE OVER THE SAME ROUGH SPOTS AND BARELY NOTICED THEM. THERE WERE NO SIGNIFIGANT POT HOLES IN THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THAT A WHEEL THAT WILL FAIL SO EASILY IS A HAZARD. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND STRUCK A HOLE IN THE ROAD I BELIEVE THE TIRE WOULD HAVE GONE FLAT IMMEDIATELY AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST.

I AM REPORTING TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS, BOTH INVOLVING THE QUALITY OF THE MANUFACTURER'S RIMS ON THE 2001 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT. I HAVE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO DENT BOTH THE RIGHT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR RIM ON MY NEW 2001 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF DRIVING (ODOMETER READ LESS THAN 3600 MILES AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT). I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1997 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GST I PURCHASED NEW WITHOUT ANY RIM ISSUES AND TRADED IN AFTER 45,000 MILES FOR THE NEW ECLIPSE. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT A STOP LIGHT DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH. I DROVE TOO CLOSE TO A CURB AND MY FRONT TIRE HIT A POTHOLE. THE TIRE INSTANTLY DEFLATED, AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ACTUAL TIRE, HOWEVER THE RIM WAS BENT IN AT LEAST 2-3 INCHES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY, SO MY COST FOR A NEW RIM WAS AROUND $300, AND THEN THE DEALER STATED THAT I HAD TO GO ELSEWHERE TO HAVE TIRE AND RIM INSTALLED BECAUSE THEIR TIRE MACHINE WAS BROKEN! TOTAL COST OF THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS APPROXIMATELY $320. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURED ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER, BUT I AM STILL NOT SURE HOW OR WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TESTED A NUMBER OF TIMES; DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE STALLS WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE; IN MAY, VEHICLE BEGAN TO KILL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40 AND 65 MPH. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED ON ONE OCCASION WHEN THE CAR STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP IN LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS. IN MID-JULY, THEY STATED THAT A FLASH/RECALL WAS BEING DEVELOPED AND WOULD BE READY IN MID-AUGUST; THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED TO PICK UP MY CAR. DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES REGARDING THIS CAR, I REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE CAR. THEY SAID THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR STORAGE OF THE CAR AND FOR ALL RENTAL CAR COSTS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH MITSUBISHI MOTORS HEADQUARTERS, AND THEY PROMPTLY SENT A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS COMING ON & THEY HAD PUT THE WRONG ONE IN FOR ONLY FRONT AIRBAGS? I STILL BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM WE HAD BEFORE THE CAR WAS WRECKED. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR WITH VERY LITTLE MILEAGE- THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE HAD THE CAR DIE ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING. 1ST TIME WAS ALSO FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHICH TOOK A WEEK FOR THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND TO FIX IT. I SPOKE TO DEAN WHOM IS A SERVICE MANAGER AT SKYLINE MITUBISHI IN DENVER. HE HAD 2 MECHANICS WORKING ON MY CAR FOR MOST OF THE DAY ON 6/20/01 HE SAID THERE WAS SO MUCH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR THAT THEY WERE STILL BAFFLED AT SOME OF THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY KEPT RUNNING INTO. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING IT, LUCKILY NOBODY GOT INJURED IN BOTH INSTANCES WHIC LEFT ME AND MY FAMILY STRANDED FOR HOURS BEFORE EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FINALLY CAME TO ASSIST WHICH IS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING. ESPECIALLY EITHER WHEN ITS LATE AT NIGHT OR IN 100 TEMPERATURE WHICH IT WAS WHEN THE LAST TIME THE CAR BROKE DOWN ON ME, AND I HAD A 6 MONTH OLD INFANT WHIC H WE HAD TO LOCATE SHELTEER TO KEEP THE INFANT COOL FROM THE EXTREME HEAT OF THE SUN.. I AM SO CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD REOCCURING THAT I AM GOING TO CONTINUE TO FILE A COMPLAINGT WITH AS MANY AGENCIES AS POSSIBLE, UNTIL THERE IS SOME RESOLUTION. WHILE TRYING TO AVOID A SPIN OUT IN HEAVY SNOW. I TURNED TO INTO THE CURB TO HELP STOP MY CAR. MY WHEEL IS ALUMINUM SPOKE DESIGN. ALL THE SPOKES FRACTURED COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WHEEL. THE TIRE STILL HAD AIR. MY WHEEL CAME OFF. MY ROTOR HIT THE GROUND AND BUSTED. MY DAD WHO IS A MECHANIC CAME OUT BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK TOOK MY CAR OFF AND HE SAID HE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. THE SAME COMMENT CAME FROM THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MITSUBISHI. MY CAR IS LOW AND THE ONLY BODY DAMAGE WAS FROM WHEN THE WHEEL DROPPED OFF ADDED TO WHEN THE TOW TRUCK LIFTED MY FRONT END. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND WILL CONTINUE UNLESS THEY FIND OUT WHY THIS DEFECT EXISTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE CLOSEST MITSUBISHI DEALER LOCATED IN BRANDON, FLORIDA. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR ON THEIR LOT SINCE THE LAST INCIDENT (JULY 6 OR7TH) I DEMANDED THEY KEEP IT UNTIL THEY COULD SATISFACTORILY FIX THE PROBLEM SO THAT I WOULD NOT BE CAUSING INJURY TO ANOTHER PASSENGER ON THE HIGHWAY OR TO SOMEONE IN MY VEHICLE. APRIL 9TH FIRST SIDE FLEW OFF (RIGHT) 4/11 SERVICE TOOK OFF LEFT SIDE AS IT WAS ALSO BROKE END OF APRIL THE LEFT SIDE WAS REPLACED RIGHT SIDE ON BACK ORDER. 6/20 RIGHT SIDE PART IN AND REPLACED AND GLUED WITH CEMENT GLUE. LEFT SIDE TAKEN OFF AND GLUED ALSO AS WAS BROKEN AGAIN. 6/5 RIGHT SIDE FLEW OFF AGAIN! 6/7 CARLEFT AT MITSUBISHI UNTIL FIXED. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN SUMMARY. *AK
