While travelling in Southern California, I came to a stop to enter I8 on ramp. When I tried to start down the on ramp the truck didn’t want to move and a check engine light came on. The truck went into limp mode so would travel slowly along. I called Mango Auto who could diagnose it the following morning. I did not make it to the shop before the transmission failed completely and the truck wouldn’t move leaving me in traffic in a dangerous spot. Eventually I was towed to the shop in Yuma AZ. They diagnosed it as a complete transmission failure requiring a $10,000 replacement. FCA has issued an extended warranty, but my mileage is 16700 miles over. FCA has a technical bulletin on the issue with the Austin transmission, but has not but should have issued a recall. This failure To issue a recall left me stuck in a dangerous situation and could have resulted in a crash.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made abnormal knocking and ticking sounds. The knocking and ticking sounds became louder while accelerating. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the piston had ingested the grid heater nut. The mechanic replaced the piston, cylinder head assembly, gaskets, rod, gasket intake, Hamilton flat tappet conversion kit, and XDP grid heater. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,745.

Vehicle lost drive via the transmission when it disengaged unexpectedly. Known issue that Stellantis classifies under "Customer Satisfaction Notice" instead of a recall. There are many examples of recalls issued by other manufacturers related to loss of drive via the transmission, so why is this being treated as a notice of inconvenience versus a safety issue? Issue is being addressed via a Technical Service Bulletin where units that fail are repaired after the fact versus proactively inspected and replaced.

The center infotainment stack screen refused to power up when starting the vehicle. The radio and hvac functions worked, but the screen would not turn on preventing the backup camera from functioning. Restarting the system twice and restarting the vehicle failed to get the system to function. Upon restart several hours later all systems appear to function normally. A video is available of the failure.

### **NHTSA Complaint Statement of Facts** **RE: Recall Y43 (NHTSA Campaign 22V-406) – Failure of Recall Remedy** **Summary:** The manufacturer (Stellantis/FCA) is refusing to provide a complete and effective remedy for **Recall Y43**. My 2022 Ram 3500 was manufactured without the **Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor**, a defect officially acknowledged in Recall Y43. This factory omission has caused terminal blockage of the **Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)**—a specific consequential failure documented in the manufacturer's own recall filing. **Technical Argument:** 1. **Causal Link:** The official Y43 recall notice states: *"The PM sensor... may not have been installed... This could increase vehicle emissions and **block the diesel particulate filter**."* My vehicle currently suffers from the exact "blocked DPF" condition described. 2. **Ineffective Remedy:** Stellantis has offered to install the missing sensor (the Y43 part) but refuses to replace the ruined DPF. Installing a sensor on a filter already terminally blocked due to the sensor's absence is not an "effective remedy" under the **National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act**. 3. **Warranty Admission:** Per **TSB 09-014-22 (X97)**, the manufacturer has issued a 1-year unlimited mile warranty extension for the DPF specifically for vehicles affected by Y43. Refusing to replace a filter that failed *before* the recall was performed is an attempt to circumvent this warranty obligation. **Safety Risk:** The vehicle is currently in "Limp Mode" with a "Filter Full - Power Reduced" message. This creates an unreasonable safety risk of **stalling or loss of power** while operating on public highways, a condition explicitly mentioned in the Y43 safety report as increasing the risk of an accident. I am seeking an order for the manufacturer to replace the DPF as part of the Y43 recall remedy at no cost to the consumer. The manufacturer’s Case Manager has denied the claim and refused further communication

I own this truck and have had issues with the exhaust regeneration process for about 6 months. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and they have done diagnostics and replaced the diesel particulate filter, but the issue continues to happen. They have now told me that the system is not reparable and they don't have support from RAM manufacturer to troubleshoot and repair this issue. They have multiple customers with the same issue with the diesel exhaust system not operating properly, hampering the engine performance, damaging the engine and exhaust system, polluting from the exhaust discharge. This is a widely known issue with the 2022 Ram 3500 from other owners, yet RAM refuses to properly address the issue. They advertise their trucks with certain horsepower and output specs, which aren't accurate due to their faulty exhaust systems. Consumers are now completely removing the factoring exhaust systems because they damage the engines and cost thousands of dollars to attempt to repair, which many times never work. This needs to be addressed with RAM and recalls put in place to address the failures with their exhaust systems. My truck has 28,000 miles on it, 3 years old, and is not operable. The dealer has had 3 attempts to repair this and is now turning me away. Please help! Thank you

***1*** The emissions system on this truck (2022 Ram 3500 with 34,435 miles) has been problematic since I acquired it 5 months ago. It continually attempts to regenerate and rid itself of ash/soot buildup. If it does not successfully regenerate, it will go into a state of reduced power, also known as limp mode. The truck is available for inspection and will be at Lithia CDJR in Corpus Christi tomorrow, 07 Jan 2026. ***2*** Today specifically, the truck flashed a message EXHAUST FILTER NEARING FULL SAFELY DRIVE AT CONSISTENT SPEED TO CLEAR. I got on the highway to achieve this and avoid lights and stop/go traffic. It typically takes around 25 minutes of consistent driving for it to clear. But today, shortly after I reached highway speeds, the truck entered limp mode, displaying EXHAUST FILTER FULL REDUCED POWER SEE DEALER. This was a very alarming incident that created a bottleneck on the highway and presumably for me to nearly be rear ended as it happened at 5:35pm. I was able to safely make it off of the highway, however this incident has put the lives of all motorists on the road around me today in danger. ***3*** The truck has been inspected numerous times by the dealership. The Diesel Particulate Filter was replaced on 01 October 2025 (this was the first time the truck went into limp mode on me). The frequent regenerations continued after the DPF replacement and a sensor was replaced on 29 October 2025. Regens continue at approximately 1 per week. ***4*** This is a known issue amongst the community of RAM truck owners. It's unfortunate that many do not report it because the safety issue could easily set off a chain reaction, especially if this heavy duty truck were to be towing a heavy load as it capable of doing.

The transmission in my vehicle failed suddenly on May 31, 2025, entering “limp mode” and losing the ability to shift properly. The vehicle became immobile and was towed to the dealership. Initial diagnostics revealed difficulty shifting between 3rd and 4th gears. Service technicians attempted repair in June based on RAM TSB MC-10231775, which indicated snap ring failure in the Aisin transmission. Repairs prescribed in TSB were attempted but unsuccessful, as the vehicle still could not shift into 4th gear. Additional parts were ordered, and another repair was unsuccessfully attempted in late June. Ram has shipped a new transmission which we are waiting on the dealership to install.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMJune 19, 2025
My 2022 RAM 3500 has repeated failures of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. The truck enters limp mode unexpectedly, including while towing on the interstate, creating a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of power. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced ongoing issues with the emissions system, specifically related to the DPF. The check engine light comes on frequently, and diagnostic scans consistently show code P2459 (Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency Too High). The DPF system has been replaced approximately five times by authorized RAM dealer. Despite these repairs, the same problem continues to occur. The truck will sometimes enter limp mode without warning, drastically reducing engine power. This has happened while towing a camper on the interstate, making it difficult or impossible to maintain safe highway speeds or accelerate when needed. This puts me, my passengers, and other motorists at risk of a crash, particularly when merging or changing lanes in fast-moving traffic. I have already pursued and settled a claim with Stellantis (RAM’s manufacturer) for $10k due to these issues. However, the problem persists, and the root cause has not been resolved. Accepting the settlement was recommended by legal counsel. The failure has occurred on multiple occasions (at least five separate incidents). The vehicle has undergone several service visits and emissions system replacements, but the safety issue continues. Current mileage 42,000. Dates of incidents from most recent: 6/25 (still in shop), 3/25, 9/24, 8/24,7/24,6/24,4/24,1/24,7/23,6/23,11/22. Documentation available upon request. Diesel particulate filter (DPF) system replaced approximately five times. I believe there is a defect in the design or operation of the emissions system that poses a safety risk. Loss of power while driving at highway speeds or towing creates a dangerous situation. I am reporting this in hopes that NHTSA will investigate this recurring issue.

The UCONNECT digital center display occasionally goes completely dark or shuts off. Sometimes displays an error message like "uconnect box requires service". This display is essential for managing everything from air conditioning to music and navigation. When the windshield fogs up and you need to adjust airflow while driving for visibility, this malfunction can be distracting and pose a safety hazard. Additionally, the rear backup camera fails to function when the screen is blank, which is particularly concerning in this long-bed truck when reversing in parking lots. As I pressed on accelerator my speed continued to decrease. I quickly signaled to right lane in an attempt to get off the road. I was slowing at a rate I was concerned I may be stopped on highway with vehicles traveling 55 mph approaching. The vehicle was towed to a local RAM dealer as my wife and I waited on the highway with RV for second tow service. This all could have been avoided. Why was a TSB or recall already in place? RAM has many transmission failures on the 2022 Aisin transmission noted on RAM truck forums. The engine stopped while driving with no warning and provided no opportunity to exit the travel lane of the road. No warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard and all gauges appeared normal leading up to the event. This event is extremely frustrating, but I am thankful that it didn't happen on the interstate as there is no telling what the outcome may have been......... Leading up to the event, I had been driving on the interstate around 70mph for about 180 miles since the last restart. I exited the interstate and made it about 3/4 miles on a secondary road and the engine died without warning and the truck came to a quick stop in the lane of travel. No abnormal sounds were observed, just a sudden unwelcome deacceleration that did not provide enough time to exit the lane of travel. It was like stepping on the brakes. I attempted to restart the truck and the starter would not crank the engine and briefly pulled enough voltage to kill all the electronics. I attempted starting it again with a jump box attached and met the same result. The computers freaking out from the low voltage during the starting attempts wouldn't allow me to put the truck in neutral to move it out of the lane of travel. A police officer called for the tow truck on rotation since I was stuck in a live travel lane. The truck was towed to the Dealer on 8/19/2024 after the service department had closed and still would not turn over when removed from the tow truck. There were no signs of any fluids leaking from the truck after the event........ The next day the Service Advisor called and advised there were only 3 codes stored related to low voltage. Truck is waiting for a tech to become available to further investigate.

It is a plastic line that runs from the DEF tank and passes nearby the exhaust filter which is very hot. A RAM dealer in Georgia told me they have sold/replaced many of these lines. When cracked, they leak DEF in large volumes on the ground which then becomes contaminated.

I was driving coming to a stop for a red light and it turns green. As I go to press on the gas my dashboard lights up with error codes stating a 4WD System error of some kind. As I go to press on the gas the truck loses power and acceleration and starts making a horrible clunking noise. I took it to the dealer because it seems like a transmission issue. This is a 2022 Ram 3500 with 9300 miles at time of failure. I would hate to see what happens if I was towing a large load to lose power all of a sudden risking my life and others around me. Based on what I have researched it seems like a K1 Snap Ring issue to the T. Waiting on the "official" diagnosis from the dealer.

When pulling onto the interstate on ramp (45 mph) the truck attempted to shift up when all transmission power failed. The engine ran fine, just no power. I was able to safely pull to the shoulder and park . s Shifting from drive to neutral to park and back to drive still did not resolve the issue. I put the truck in park and shut off the engine . The transmission fluid temp, color and level was ok. I restarted the truck and shifted to reverse with no problem then to neutral and drive. It felt that the transmission engaged and I slowly crept forward. I slowly accelerated and was able to resume speed. No subsequent loss of power has been encountered, BUT the truck now has slippage from 1st to 2nd gear and occasionally 3rd. Had I been on the interstate this has a potential for serious accident incident. This is the first time this has happened. I had bought the truck used and certified from the dealer in Pennsylvania. I purchased a FACTORY Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System for my fifth wheel. Factory TTMS system allows up to 5-6 different trailers per vehicle. TTMS allows owner to enter minimum PSI per trailer. The RAM factory system does not work as advertised. I paired wheel sensors to TTMS in vehicle and set minimum PSI to 100. When I shut vehicle off the preset reverts back to factory 50 PSI. Also TTMS recognizes 3 wheel sensors 50% of the time. The other 50% dashboard shows red lines instead of trailer tire pressure. I brought vehicle to dealership after creating a case file with Ram care #87574156. Case file was created due to numerous complaints of Ram HD forum 2019-2022 model years. Ram care notified dealer that no repair authorized without trailer being present. My Ram dealer parking lot is barely large enough for my Ram 3500. I notified Ram care and dealer that the issue was with vehicle software and not trailer sensors. After weeks of inaction from Ram care I was notified that the dealer must remove aftermarket trailer tire pressure monitoring system at my expense (6 hours labor) and only then could they repair system. I attempted to explain that I paid $500 for the FACTORY system but Nikkita from Ram care would not listen. Ram care has my VIN they easily check my vehicle options but their priority was to close case file and hope I would go away quietly. Ran care repeatedly closed my file claiming they couldnt contact me. All but three of my calls went to voicemail. -What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: Transmission -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: I was never contacted by RAM regarding the possibility of a catastrophic power loss c/o transmission failure for my RAM truck. While driving E/B on Interstate 15 in the # 2 lane at highway speeds and going up a grade, the vehicle suffered complete forward momentum loss and only engine revving was occurring, while losing forward momentum & speed. I had to negotiate several, extremely busy/heavy traffic tractor-trailer filled traffic lanes to make it to the emergency shoulder of the roadway before losing all forward momentum and miraculously did not have a collision with high-speed heavy traffic. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A: I took my RAM to a nearby dealership. Based upon my description of the event and their subsequent vehicle inspection it was revealed and confirmed that somehow my RAM was erroneously, or purposely circumvented from the current transmission failure recall. The dealership discovered the issue with my transmission failure was identical to an in-progress NHTSA bulletin: 71A with TSB 21-00-2-23 (Attached PDF) and subsequently performed the repair free of charge. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A: No, it was inspected and serviced by only by an authorized dealership and none of the above. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A: Yes, the lights activated instantly/simultaneously as the failure was in-progress, in heavy traffic on the interstate.

This is regarding safety recall 13A/NHTSA 23V-060 - possible fire risk related to the air intake grid heater relay. This recall was issued in February 2023 and RAM/FCA has not fixed it yet. They "SAY" the part is available but it's really not as the distribution of the parts has been unacceptably slow. I am currently on the waiting list at 2 different dealerships and it might take another 6 months according to my regular dealership. Given the serious nature of the risk (fire), this is ridiculous. RAM also blithely states that the vehicle should be parked outside away from other structures. Is there anything you can do to expedite the repairs for all of us who are waiting? Thank you.

Trailer TPMS does not work. This is a widespread issue on Internet forums with the 2022 RAM specifically and RAM refuses to address the issue. The trailer TPMS will lose configuration without warning and stop monitoring tire pressure. The only workaround I’ve found is to repeatedly switch the trailer configuration within the infotainment until it happens to work properly. Sometimes it works immediately, sometimes it’ll take a couple minutes of switching settings. TPMS that cannot be relied on is a safety issue.

These trucks are built to tow, you don’t own 1-ton trucks without the intent to tow a good bit of weight. As per the research gathered by owner community of Ram HD owners, this issue is widespread on 2022-2023 Ram HD trucks with High Output motor paired with Aisin transmission. Problem is known by Ram, no warning to owners, hundreds of transmissions on failing during use. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed. Complete transmission failure in traffic while towing GCVW ~18,000 posed high risk of accident between our vehicle and surrounding traffic. Fortunately we were in right hand lane and able to move to shoulder fairly quickly. Problem reproduced hundreds of times in the field, and widely known (reference https://www.tsbsearch.com/RAM/21-002-23). This however does not warn of the extreme nature of these failures that are in almost every case when under use.. transmission are blowing up under heavy tows. I was on steep winding roads in North Idaho (Elk River) when this occurred with three passengers aboard. Once I was able to stop, I was on a steep uphill grade with no forward gears or shoulder to pull over on. I had to coast in neutral back down the mountain to an appropriate site to get off the road. On our 1st day of our 10 day vacation heading East on Hwy 26 to Crescent, OR. At Government Camp going up in elevation, our 2022 Dodge Ram Diesal 3500 4x4, stopped going. We were pulling a 32' 5th wheel at about 14,000 #. We pulled off the road and put it into park, let it sit then tried to put it into drive again and it would not go. The transmission rattled and made all kinds of noise. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS ON THE DASH OF ANY ISSUES! We put it into park and called 911 to assist in a tow truck. We had to wait for about 1 1/2 hours for the truck. An officer came up behind the trailer as we were on a curve and blindspot. We were on the white line!!!!!!! The tow truck had to pull us (because of the 5th wheel) to the snow park parking lot. Tow truck driver had to line us up then we had to unhook the trailer so he could take it to a Dodge Dealer. We spent the night in the trailer until the next day when we had to hire another tow truck from where we lived to come pick us up and take us back home. This excursion set us up for 2 individual companies, ugh! the 1st one only went back to Boring, OR and the truck sat there until the next day to be taken to Grasham Dodge. Gresham did not have the manpower to assess the situation and or fix the problem so from Gresham Dodge had to take it to Dick Hannah in Vancouver, WA only to then be taken across the street to Dick Hannah Jeep in the overflow area. Not secured and we found the passenger window open when we went to get the rest of our stuff. Have a service team manager, Austin, from Dick Hannah CJDR to have contact with regarding our truck. I heard there is no recall on the transmissions yet but from going on to the forums and seeing all of the other Dodge Ram owners, there should be. All of this should be completely covered by Dodge even the towing as if this had not occurred, we wouldn't be in debt of $4,566.53. We lost our first vacation and probably for the rest of the summer as we had numerous ones set up. Thank you

The brake and accelerator pedals are not aligned well. It is very easy for your foot to slip between the two when moving from the accelerator to the brake. The offset heights and distance of travel result in your foot slipping in-between them. This prevents the vehicle from stopping and can cause an accident. It seems like the accelerator pedal should be further forward than the brake pedal. I don't have this issue with any other vehicles I have driven. I'm 6' with a size 11 boot. My entire boot slips between these pedals easily.

It was sudden when we heard two very loud clunks with jerking that coincided with each. Fortunately I was able to quickly pull onto a wide area of the shoulder from the center lane and not block or impact traffic. This could have had a high impact on traffic and the safety of others during this incident. We do not know how it could have impacted vehicle control. All forward gears were inoperative after the failure. We were stranded there for more than 3 hours waiting for two wreckers. One for the truck and one for the trailer. This was more than just an inconvenience and huge added expense that flowed into the following day when you realize what technology you rely on built into the truck. We use both vehicles for working remotely for long periods of time in a large 4 state area on the west coast. The longer this takes to remedy, impacts our ability to use the trailer. The biggest concern was the impact to our safety and to the public had we not been able to make it to the shoulder of the freeway. Truck has been inspected by a Ram Dealer. They have indicated that parts have been ordered. Ram Care has been contacted twice and a case good case number (85915865) has been created. There is a group on Facebook that is capturing incidences of this with other Ram HO-6.7 Cummins-Aisin AS69RC transmission trucks. I was pulling our camper from Southern Wisconsin to North Central Oregon for work. While driving through a snow storm, in stop and go traffic outside of Minneapolis, I felt and heard a loud clunk. Vehicle lost gears 1-4, gears 5,6, and reverse were all that were available. It was a dangerous situation due to being stranded in the left lane on I-94 during snow storm with white out conditions. This could have been even worse had the transmission failed while going over the mountains to Oregon. Transmission failed at 9117 miles on 01/03/2023. Expected parts for repair estimated to be 03/22/2023. This is a much bigger problem than is being represented on here with reports. My truck is listed on a spread sheet put together by a fellow member of a Ram truck Facebook group that is tracking these failures. My truck was the third added to the list on 01/05/2023. There are now over 90 trucks on the spreadsheet since then. See spreadsheet attached. The transmission lost gears 1 through 4 on the freeway in traffic. We were going approximately 25mph in the fast lane when it happened. We were lucky enough to have enough speed to make it to the shoulder, but were left stranded on the shoulder. Truck is at dealer needing a transmission replacement that can't be ordered at this time.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and towing a 40-ft trailer ascending a mountain, a loud clunking noise was coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was driven very slowly to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage 800.

I lost the transmission in my truck. Lost 1st thru 4th gears . I was in reverse and my truck made a loud clunk/bang the dash stated 4wheel drive unavailable. The engine light came on and it went into limp mode. 40mph top speed. I got it to the dealer on 12\23\22 and the truck has been there since. Ram is now claiming no eta of any sort and there is an engineering problem with the transmission. I worry that someone could get injured if the transmission fails at speed of in traffic. Please look into this before someone gets hurt.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased brand new. The contact stated while driving at various speeds after the dealer had delivered the vehicle to him, he felt a significant buzzing sensation. The contact stated that the sensation was extremely strong and had caused him and his friend who was occupying the front passenger seat to have headaches. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the next day. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle was experiencing an extremely High Electric Magnetic Frequency. The dealer took the dash apart and wrapped it in shielding foil to temper the radiation. However, the failure persisted. Chrysler Regional Representative informed the contact that he could continue to drive the vehicle as it was still performing as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10.

I was driving on the interstate and new truck with 170 miles on it just made 2 loud noises and then would not go over 10 miles an hour, Which I think is very dangerous. Now its been at the service station for Ram for a month and the mechanic said this was his 6th truck with under 600 miles with the same problem. And Ram is not doig much to assist me.

Backed out of a parking spot onto a busy road, put the truck in drive and nothing. Transmission failure. ME and my daughter were stuck in the middle of the road and truck would only go in reverse. Had to reverse a u-turn in middle of road and back into parking spot. Dealer confirmed a failure in the transmission and is repairing/ replacing. Upon fruther investigation into this issue online there is a list of truck that this is happening to. Check engine light also came on when vehical would not move.

We were traveling westbound on the interstate I-10 towards Los Angeles California on Nov 13/22 near Cabazon CA in my 2022 Ram 3500, SRW, 6.7 HO with the Aisin transmission. It was rush hour stop-and-go traffic. I was traveling at a speed of approximately 35mph when a large bang came from under the vehicle. There was an immediate and complete power loss and we had to coast to the shoulder of the road and try to avoid being struck by traffic. Once on the shoulder, I had got out and checked under the vehicle. There was nothing that I could see that was wrong. There was a check engine light that went on. Using a jobber OB2 scanner, codes P0731 (Gear 1 incorrect ratio) and P0732 (Gear 2 incorrect ratio) were present. The truck was towed to the Redlands CDJR dealer for service with only 6700 miles on the odometer. It turned out to require a complete new Aisin transmission. The repair took a month to complete and looks to have been caused by a defective snap ring as per service bulletin 21-002-23 (K1 clutch drum snap ring and K1 input shaft drum sub assembly) although the Redlands CDJR dealer or FCA will not confirm. The bulletin states the affected vehicles are the 2022-23 Ram 3500 pickup, 3500 cab and chassis, and 4500/5500 Cab Chassis trucks. Due to the immediate power loss, with zero warning, we were just able to get to the shoulder of the road and could have easily caused a massive pile up and possible deaths due to the failure. FCA refuses to inspect or confirm that the new transmission (68498560AB) installed in my truck addresses the 21-002-23 service bulletin and said I would need to pay out of pocket for the inspection to occur at a dealer. There are numerous documented cases of newly installed transmissions failing shortly after being "repaired". I believe it would be in the publics best interest that FCA/RAM issue a recall on the effected vehicles as these vehicles are typically used for emergency, commercial and towing application's.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that as he slowed to exit the highway he depressed the brake pedal which went to the floorboard. The contact stated that he had no brakes and was only able to stop the vehicle using the brakes on the trailer he was towing. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who diagnosed and determined that the rear brake fluid line had become disconnected and that brake fluid had run out of the system which is why he had no brakes. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brakes failed again while he was on the highway, and again he had to use the trailer brakes to stop the vehicle from running into the back of another vehicle that was ahead of him. The contact stated that he saw the ABS light illuminated and he had also noticed smoke coming from under the vehicle. When the contact had pulled off the highway, he stated that he saw flames issuing from the rear wheel wells. The contact was able to use an onboard fire extinguisher, however, the flames were not controlled. The contact stated that the police and fire department had arrived on the scene and that the flames were put out using water. The contact was not aware if the police or fire department had written any reports. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

DEF warning: see dealer. 125 miles until 5mph max speed. Happened 250 miles to nearest dealer during winter storm in SD and NE. Stranded at night, in storm, in freezing conditions, without available help. This is a potentially fatal situation due to failure of new vehicle despite preparation per vehicle manual. DEF tank 2/3 full, DPF gauge at 0. Eventually towed 135 miles to dealer to have DEF code reset. This is dangerous and very common.

This vehicle went back to the dealer numerous times and ultimately was surrendered to Chrysler under lemon law. It had ABS braking issues along with trailer brake problems. At about 8000 miles it started having ABS alarms which cause a bunch of other issues that I feel is a serious safety problem. When the ABS system malfunctions it causes the traction control,4 wheel drive, and trailer brake systems to fail as well. I never brought the vehicle home after the last incident in September 2022 as I felt it was totally unsafe to drive especially with the trailer attached.

The vehicle had been parked in the street for several hours. I started the vehicle in order to back it into my driveway for the night and then turned it off (total run time for the operation was most likely under a minute from the time the engine was started until it was shut down). The temperature was relatively cool and I did have to wait for the grid heater to cycle before the engine started. I did not notice any signs, warnings, safety indicators, or dash lights to alert me to any possible problems. Upon exiting the truck I detected a very faint and quickly disipating odor of hot electrical components, similar to a fourescent light ballast that has gone bad. I looked around but didn't see anything. I began retrieving some tools from the rear passenger side of the truck and smelled the same odor but stronger. Over the next 30-40 seconds I began to search for the source and realized that white smoke was now pouring out from under the hood of the truck. I was able to get it to start and pulled it into the street just prior to flames coming from under the hood near the drivers windshield. 911 was contacted as I tried to remove any belongings from the cab. The truck is now a total loss due to fire most likely. The fire and police responded to put the vehicle out but it was almost completely engulfed on their arrival. My insurance company is attempting to gain possession of the vehicle to begin their investigation. The Vehicle has approx 16,900 miles and was Serviced for safety recall Y76 for risk of engine fire on September 21st of 2022. The vehicle had 14,192 miles when it was inspected and passed according to the recall standards at the time. The vehicle has no other history of repairs or service items and has had no other mechanical or electrical problems to date. This was a very close call that could have resulted in the loss of my home, all my possessions, and risked harm to myself and my family if I had not stopped to get tools from the cab.

The transmission spontaneously slipped out of park and went into reverse. My safety was close to critically impacted. When it began to roll on its own, I was scooped by the driver door and dragged several yards until the truck impacted another vehicle and came to a stop. I very likely could have been killed. If anyone had been behind the truck they likely could have been killed. The incident resulted in significant damage to my vehicle and the vehicle that it ran into. I have not driven the truck since the incident to reproduce. Police did come out to inspect the accident. Has not gone to dealer yet. There were no warning light, buzzers, etc. completely spontaneous. Note: the vehicle was running when this happened. When I was able to get back in truck the stalk was still in park position

when using the automatic rain wipers with automatic headlights activated during the daytime the dash illumination is darken to night time values. Since the dash is digital along with the radio system, it is EXTREMELY difficult to see anything. It requires you take take your eyes off the road for a longer period to time to view any information on the dash or in the navigation/radio. The dash illumination should never darken during the daytime, unless the light value is decreased to what a nightime value would be.

My truck had around 230 miles on it and I experienced a thumping noise from the engine compartment. The thumping disappears once the truck reaches operating temperature and the EGR valve opens. Dodge claims they have no idea what the cause is. Additionally, there is an electrical draw. I have to jump start my truck every morning. The claim it is the amplifier. I pulled the fuse overnight and still had to jump start the following morning. I’m getting the run around.

Uconnect 12” Screen Blinds Driver With Full Brightness in Reverse. There is a software issue with the Uconnect 12” screen in RAM trucks. The issue arises in dark unlit areas when the truck is put in reverse, the Uconnect 12” screen is automatically switched to full brightness, resulting in blinding the driver so the side rear view mirrors become useless. There is no way for the driver to override this max brightness when in reverse. The Uconnect 12” screen should maintain its current level of brightness when the driver places the truck in reverse and not default to max brightness. In urban areas this may not be as significant issue as it is in rural areas. Many times, I have had to throw a heavy blanket, jacket, or sweatshirt over the screen so I would not be blinded by its increase to max brightness when putting the truck in reverse. This issue is made significantly worse when trying to back a 30’ trailer in the dark and can no longer see anything from the side view mirrors due to the max brightness of the Uconnect 12” screen blinding me. This is similar to passing a car with their bright lights on, but they sit there until you take the truck out of reverse. This Uconnect 5 12” screen seems to be significantly brighter than the Uconnect 4 screen in my previous vehicle. This is a safety issue as it temporarily blinds the driver when in reverse and has already caused damage to one trailer. The Uconnect 12” should maintain the current level of brightness and not go to max brightness when the truck is put in reverse. Please make this a priority request for the next software release of the Uconnect 12”. Thank you!

My vehicle came with 4X4 gear box shift on the floor. I could not get it to move into neutral or 4 low gear. I hardly drove in so it was no big deal so one day I pulled up the boot around the shift and there was a screw blocking the forward movement. It was the same screw that mount the plastic around the shift, after removing it I was able to get all the gears. The danger in that screw could have put me at risk by locking me into a gear and only staying there. The only reason I discovered this was I changed out my vinyl for carpet.
