NISSAN IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 NISSAN CUBE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 30, 2009 THROUGH JULY 30, 2010. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ROTATED FOLLOWING A REAR MOVING BARRIER CRASH TEST AS REQUIRED, THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKAGE EXCEEDED THE ALLOWABLE LIMITS.
Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL DEVELOP A SPECIAL PROTECTOR AND ATTACH IT TO THE GASOLINE RECIRCULATION TUBE AT THE LOCATION OF THE FILLER NECK CONNECTOR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Cube. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed a strong fuel odor on the exterior and in the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a cracked fuel tank filler neck. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Problem is the anti theft module located on the steering column has malfunctioned for my wife’s 2010 Nissan Cube keyless ignition. Vehicle would not restart for my wife after sitting for 5 hours, luckily she was not way off somewhere. From what I’ve seen Nissan did a recall of a similar defective module on other models but did not include the Cube. Nissan doesn’t even have the parts readily available for repair. Vehicle has been sitting at a repair shop for over a month now. This should be a safety issue as it could leave people totally stranded in the middle of nowhere with no meaningful way to repair the vehicle. The part number of the module is 487001 FA0C. It is believed that Nissan did not recall the Cube because of the low quantity of vehicles manufactured in relation to the other problem models.
Fuel level readings have been erratic for over 40,000 miles now. Fuel gauge will randomly show the fuel level with less than 1/4 tank left, even though the car has gone less than 100 miles after filling (while the car can travel over 300 miles on a full tank.) Then a little while later, the fuel level will appear normal. And this cycle will repeat many times before the tank is actually below 1/4 tank full, based on both mileage and the "normal" fuel level.
The 2010 Nissan Cube has 1 NHTSA recall and 53 consumer complaints on file. It received an overall safety rating of Not Rated out of 5 stars in NHTSA crash testing. The high number of complaints suggests potential reliability concerns — review the complaint details above before purchasing. For a couple weeks on & off it’s been not wanting to go when I step on gas. I remember this doing same sort of thing before Allen web supposedly replaced my transmission as it was one of millions that are faulty as is one they put in 2018 only has 18,000 miles on tbis supposed replaced transmission & it’s in a mechanic shop as I write this a waiting on hopefully Nissan paying for this faulty transmission. I shouldn’t have to buy one when it’s only got 18,000 miles on it. I’ve almost been rear ended due to This ongoing problem. People behind me are ready to go when light turns green. I floor my gas pedal & it does nothing . Have to Hurry put my flashers on pray to God no one hits me & flag everyone to go around. I turn car off put I park first of course , wait few seconds & sometimes it thankfully goes into gear & i baby it rest of way as I don’t want to make it worse by flooring my gas pedal. I’m very careful & pray I make it rest my way to work or home whichever the case . I barely made it to work other day. My friend thankfully had my Nissan Cube towed to a shop as it turns out it in fact had all same codes as before they supposedly put newer one in P1778 p0868 P0725, p0746 & so on transmission CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE! $2,935 plus other huge problem totaling $4,431 ! I definitely shouldn’t have to be dealing with any of this again!! I don’t drive far to work, had surgery as well so didn’t drive many places for a bit this is why only gone 18,000 miles in 4 years. I called auto mall Nissan & asked about my warranty they told me it’s expired! For only 18,000 miles put in it that’s ridiculous! Hwy robbery! Talk about a lemon again. Could of been smashed up by a truck being behind me a lot of things could of happened endangering myself as well as drivers behind me & behind those people. Plus dangerous being on side of road waiting to see if it’s gonna go into gear again or not! I understand things wear out but this transmission should be good thousands of miles!
I was washing my car by hand and I was washing the driver's side rear view mirror and pivoted it away from the normal position so I could clean it better. When put it back to it's normal position, the hinge broke. When I looked closely at the hinge, I noticed that the hinge pretty much disintegrated, so it was just a matter of time before it broke. It could've broken off on the highway and been blown off, possibly damaging the vehicle or another vehicle, as the mirror was only hanging by the wires at that point. Also you can't drive a car without a driver's side mirror. I removed the mirror after I got done washing the car, so it wouldn't fall off and hit the car. I then ordered replacements for both the driver's side and passenger's side outside mirrors, including both the plain matte black covers, and the pre-primed covers, as I don't have to rush in getting the pre-primed covers painted to match the covers on the old mirrors. I attached the invoice for the replacements. The invoice doesn't include the cost of having the covers painted. I don't think the probably needs somebody else to confirm it, as the mirror is clearly separated from the bracket. The passenger's side mirror is showing the signs of starting to disintegrate, and both mirrors are available for inspection. Nobody else has inspected the mirrors. I tried to let the manufacturer know about it, but my email to them was bounced back as undeliverable. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to failure. The pictures of the mirror on the workbench are of the driver's side mirror, while the pictures of the mirror on the car are of the passenger's side mirror. I also included a picture of the odometer reading.
I SAW THAT IN PHOENIX AZ THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 13,2010 FOR FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE;STORAGE. REPORTED AN SAFTEY COMPLAINT ON JULY 16TH, 2020 11:45 PM PHOENIX AZ. ELECTIROCAL STABILITY CONTROL STARTED ON JUNE 10TH 2020 DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT CAR CUT OFF AT AN RED LIGHT I TURNED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STARTED THE CAR UP AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON JULY 15TH 2020 TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER( AUTO ACTION 1827 W BROADWAY RD) I PAY A CAR NOTE WITH TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO RUN IT TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND WOULD NOT PRESENT AND SPARE CAR FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OR HAD ANY CAR FAX ON HAND. JULY 16TH 2020 I NOTICED THAT OIL WAS INDEED LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR.
MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HIS COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE THE STEERING MODULE THAT STARTS THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT MY COST OF $971.00. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THIS SAME PROBLEM WAS PREVALENT IN THE YEAR PRIOR TO MINE AND THAT THEY WERE BEING REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO CAMPAIGN FOR MY PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE YEAR PRIOR TO MINE IS COVERED BUT MINE IS NOT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SERVICED AS REQUIRED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY, THEN CONTINUED BY MY MECHANIC. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS MANUFACTURER TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THIS DEFECT.
PASSENGER SIDE SCREW AND LUG NUTS BROKE HALF OFF THE TIRE. CAUSING A LOUD NOISE OF THE TIRE WOBBLING. TIRE WAS PUSHED IN AND HOLDING BY ONE SCREW AND LUG NUT. NOW THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE DID THE SAME THING. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION SAME WITH THE SECOND INCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN CUBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A LOCATION AND PARKED. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START AND A FLASHING ORANGE KEY ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ALEXANDER NISSAN (10 ALEXANDER DR, MUNCY, PA 17756) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EMERGENCY SAFETY LOCK NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
AFTER A FEW YEARS OR FEW THOUSAND MILES, THE CVT TRANSMISSION MAY PARTIALLY FAIL AND IT MAY NOT BE INDICATED PROPERLY IN THE DASHBOARD. THIS RESULTS IN VEHICLE NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER TO DRIVE. SO, VEHICLE MAY STALL IN THE ROADS OR HIGHWAYS CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES TO BOTH VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS IN THE ROAD/HIGHWAYS. STOPPING AND RESTARTING MAY NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. IT COULD MOVE THE VEHICLE A BIT FARTHER BUT IT MAY BE AT A VERY SLOWER SPEED THAN THE POSTED LIMITS. THE VEHICLE MAY PRODUCE A UNIQUE SOUND AT TIMES. THE INDICATION "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" COMES A FEW DAYS LATER AND IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE USER OF THE CAR MAY NOT FULLY REALIZE THE CONDITION.
POWER STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE. VEHICLE HAPPENED TO BE STATIONARY AT THE TIME, LOCKS THE CAR FROM STARTING USING THE START BUTTON, CAR WONT EVEN TURN OVER, DEALER STATES PART MUST BE REPLACED. THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM WAS ADDRESSED BY A NTSB RECALL FOR 2009 - 2010 ALTIMAS AND ONE OTHER MODEL BUT NOT THE CUBE KROM
STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT LOCK. DASH LIGHTS COME ON, KEY IS RECOGNIZED, BUT SOMETIMES ENGINE DOES NOT START DUE TO DEAD BATTERY. FAILURE SEEMS TO BE STEERING LOCK MECHANISM IN UNLOCKED POSITION AT ALL TIMES CAUSING BATTERY TO DRAIN. BATTERY REPLACED 2 TIMES IN 9 MONTHS.ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT GOOD. TIRED OF BEING STRANDED!!!!CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN INCIDENTS OCCUR. HAPPENING EVERY OTHER DAY FOR PAST 2 MONTHS.
REAR DOOR DOESN'T OPEN, READ MANY SIMILAR REPORTS. WHEN CARS ARE SUBMERGED INTO WATER OFTEN ESCAPING THROUGH THE TRUNK IS THE ONLY OPTION, NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A FAULTY LATCH IN ALL THE EARLIER MODELS.
CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. LUCKY IT RE-ENGAGED JUST IN TIME TO AVOID BEING T-BONED. TOWED 2010 CUBE TO DEALER, DETERMINED CVT FAILED AND NEEDS NEW CVT TRANSMISSION. LEARNED CVT TRANSMISSION IS COVERED IN SERVICE CAMPAIGN BUT NISSAN STILL REFUSED TO CORRECT KNOWN ISSUE STATING IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS REFUSING TO AVOIDING NOTIFYING OWNERS OF THE RISK OF DRIVING A 2010 CUBE. MILEAGE IS JUST OVER 120,000 MILES. OTHER THAN THE ABRUPT TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHEN DRIVING, THE CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION. NOT ONLY IS NISSAN SELLING CUBES THAT GO JUST OVER 120,000 THEN BREAK, THEY ARE HIDING IN THE FACT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN WANTS $4,500 TO FIX A SAFETY PROBLEM THEY 100% KNOW IS A BIG ISSUE.
IN 2013, MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OFF ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER A FEW MILES OF DRIVING AND IT WAS RED UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN THE MECHANIC MANUALLY TURN IT OFF.
