THE REAR OUTSIDE SEATING POSITION SAFETY BELTS MAY LOCK UP AT ANGLES OTHER THAN THOSE REQUIRED BY FMVSS 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES". THIS DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD.
Consequence: NON-CONFORMING SAFETY BELTS CAUSE AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A SUDDEN STOP OR ACCIDENT.
Remedy: REPLACE THE SENSOR IN THE REAR SEAT BELT RETRACTOR.

Consequence: A SAFETY BELT ASSEMBLY INSTALLED ON THE WRONG SIDE OFTHE CAR CAN NOT BE PULLED OUT OF THE RETRACTOR BECAUSE OF THE MOUNTING ANGLE,MAKING THE SAFETY BELT UNUSABLE, AND THE SEAT OCCUPANT OF AN UNUSABLE SEAT BELTWOULD BE EXPOSED TO INCREASED RISK OF INJURY IN A SUDDEN STOP OR ACCIDENT.
Remedy: INSTALL CORRECT SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES ON THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE CAR.
HORN IS DESIGNED POORLY WHICH HAS CAUSED SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO HONK MY HORN AT A CRUCIAL TIME. INSTEAD OF BEING ABLE TO PRESS THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO HONK THE HORN, THERE ARE TWO SMALL BUTTONS AT THE 9 AND 3 POSITION THAT APPEAR TO BE POSITIONED TO PRESS WITH YOUR THUMB- IF YOUR HANDS ARE AT THE 9 & 3 POSITION. IN AN EMERGENT SITUATION, THE FIRST INCLINATION IS TO HIT THE MIDDLE OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO ACTIVATE THE HORN, NOT TO SEARCH FOR EITHER OF THE TWO LITTLE HORN BUTTONS. IN THE LATEST INCIDENT, I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY ON A LEFT TURN ARROW, A CAR GOING STRAIGHT WENT THROUGH THE RED LIGHT AND NEARLY BROADSIDED ME. I WAS POUNDING ALL OVER THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIND THE HORN. *TR
I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE 1992 HONDA ACCORD. I HAVE EXPERIENCED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE THAT WILL GENERALLY REQUIRE OVERHAUL OR REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER SEVERAL ON-LINE RESEARCHES ON HONDA ACCORDS 1990 TO DATE, I FIND NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, I.E., ACCELERATION FAILURE. WHEN ENGINE GETS HOT, THE CAR HAS ACCELERATION FAILURE. EVEN FURTHER RESEARCH REVEALS ?CERTIFIED TRANSMISSION MECHANICS REVEALED THAT THIS KNOWN PREMATURE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS DUE TO AN ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAW. IN ADDITION, ?THIS DESIGN FLAW CONSISTS OF THE HONDA ACCORD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NOT HAVING OUTSIDE ACCESS TO THE METAL SCREEN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FILTER WHICH BECOMES CLOGGED WITH GUNK AND METAL SHAVINGS, THUS STARVING THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSES OVERHEATING, AND FURTHER DETERIORATION AND PREMATURE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE.? THERE IS NO WAY TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE METAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FILTER BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRANSMISSION PAN TO UNBOLT AND ALLOW ACCESS. COMPLETE DISASSEMBLE OF THE TRANSMISSION IS REQUIRED. THIS SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WILL BE REPORTED TO THE U.S. GOVERNMENT NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) DECLARING THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

A FAULTY TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT, CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO AT RANDOM SHIFT IN TO AN IMPROPER GEAR OR INTO NEUTRAL AT OR DURING TAKE OFF FROM STOP. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER WHEN TRYING TO JOIN TRAFFIC, OR ONCE ALREADY IN TRAFFIC. TCU WOULD ALSO FAIL TO LOCK OR UNLOCK T/C WHEN IT WAS DESIGNED TO. ON ONE OCCASION THE TCU LOCKED THE T/C AT A STOP LIGHT, STALLING THE ENGINE IN TRAFFIC. TCU FAILED TO ALERT THE DRIVER OF A PROBLEM THROUGH THE D4 OR CHECK ENGINE LAMPS, AND PRODUCED NON EXISTENT CODES WHEN PUT INTO DIAGNOSTIC MODE. *TR
FRONT LEFT SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED IN, MAKING AUDIBLE CLICK, AND TURNING OFF INDICATOR LAMP ON DASH BOARD. WHILE DRIVING THE SEAT BELT POPPED OUT OF ITS LATCH. AT NO POINT DURING THE DRIVE DID ANY LAMP OR CHIME WARN THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT FULLY LATCHED. CAUSE FOR CONCERN, SEEING NUMEROUS OTHER REPORTS OF PEOPLE BEING INJURED OR KILLED BY SEAT BELTS OF THESE CARS FAILING IN CRASHES. *TR

WHILE EXAMINING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE THE CONTACT NOTICED SEVERAL CUTS ALONG THE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TIRE WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS AFTER THE REPLACEMENT THE CONTACT NOTICED HAT THE FAILURE HAD RECURRED. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE LOCKING MECHANISM IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ON MY 92 HONDA ACCORD IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN. IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF MY CAR, I HAVE TO CRAWL/CLIMB TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR AND EXIT THE CAR THAT WAY. IF I NEEDED TO EXIT MY CAR IN AN EMERGENCY, SAY A FIRE IN MY CAR, IT WOULD TAKE ME MORE TIME TO GET INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THEN EXIT THE CAR THAN IF I COULD JUST OPEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND CONSIDER THIS AS A RECALL. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED HONDA ABOUT GETTING THIS REPAIRED AND IT WOULD COST $250+ FOR THE PART AND THEN LABOR WOULD BE $72 PER HOUR AND IT WOULD TAKE 2.5 HOURS TO FIX IT. THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY LOCAL TAXES.
